People here threaten to leave the US when their particular candidate doesn't win and then never go through with it. People in Cuba, when they had the chance, fled in droves and changed the social fabric of south Florida. Yeah, Fidel's not so bad.

Again not trying to say that Fidel was a good guy. He wasnt. But he also wasnt a Hussain or Kim Jung Un. A big reason why they leave in droves is because of the hardships we put on Cuba preventing trade any pretty much any advancement. They were stuck in the fifties with knowledge of how it could be better.

As for Gonz not a big fan of socialism, communism, or any other Marxism. That said you do know that there isn't anything inherently wrong with preferring another economical or governmental system?

Like me I would love for us to be a democracy.

It'll be interesting to see what direction Cuba takes now. Fidel has been in the backseat since 2006 anyway, and in the article I read today his brother Raul has indicated he'll be stepping down in 2018.
