  • Like Forsythe in "And Justice For All".

    • Great flick. One of my all time faves. The bathroom scene when they're telling Pacino that Forsythe was indicted and wants him to be his defense lawyer brings laughing tears to my eyes every time.

      • Ernie Harwell, longtime voice of Detroit Tigers, dies at 92.

By John Lowe, Detroit Free Press
Ernie Harwell, the acclaimed Tigers broadcaster whose eloquence and kindness made him a beloved Michigan institution, died Tuesday night after a nearly year-long bout with cancer. He was 92.
He died in his apartment at Fox Run Village, a retirement center in Novi, with Lulu, his wife of 68 years, at his side. His death came eight months to the day after he revealed to his fans, in an interview with the Detroit Free Press, that he had a cancerous tumor in the area of his bile duct and that in late July he had been given only a few months to live.
"I'm ready to face what comes," he said at the time. "Whether it's a long time or a short time is all right with me because it's up to my Lord and savior."
"Low on the totem, till he showed 'em defiance, giant scrotum"

        • "Best known for her long show biz career, beauty and outspokenness, Lena Horne, who was born on June 30, 1917, died last night at the age of 92 at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital. Horne, whose career achievements include a Tony Award as well as Grammy wins, broke many barriers. Her contract deal with MGM in the 1940s was the most significant of its kind for a black actor. Plum movie roles were still hard to come by, with Horne largely relegated to musical numbers. She did, however, have significant roles in Cabin in the Sky and Stormy Weather, films with African American casts. Barriers were still lifted on other levels. Horne dined in the commissary and even appeared on the cover of a major movie magazine, a first for an African American."

          RIP Lena.

                  • I don't know how big of a celebrity she is, but nevertheless, a bit of a stunner considering her age.

25 Year Old LPGA Player Found Dead

Erica Blasberg, a 25-year-old golfer on the LPGA Tour, was found dead Sunday afternoon at her home in Henderson, Nev., a police spokesman told Golfweek magazine.

The circumstances are currently under investigation, her agent and authorities said Monday. No cause of death was disclosed, according to a spokesman for the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Henderson police spokesman Keith Paul told the
Associated Press that officers responded to a 911 call and were dispatched to Blasberg's house around 3 p.m. Sunday. Paul declined to say who made the call since it was part of the investigation.

"At first glance it looks like she might have taken her own life, but at second glance, something is very, very strange about it," Erica's father, Mel Blasberg, told
The Press-Enterprise by phone from Nevada. "We're waiting for the police to make an investigation, it's a pending investigation.

"Either way, I lost her and it's impossible to deal with."

Blasberg's agent, Chase Callahan, issued a statement Monday but declined to provide details because of the probe.

"We are devastated to learn of the passing of
Erica Blasberg," Callahan said. "To most of the world, Erica was known as a professional golfer, but she was more than that. She was a loving daughter to her parents and a compassionate and loyal friend. Erica had a good heart, was extremely kind and very thankful for what she had in her life."

Blasberg played her only LPGA Tour event this year two weeks ago in Mexico and tied for 44th. "She went all the way to Mexico to qualify in an area where they just had a killing, that's how motivated she was," Blasberg's father told The Press-Enterprise. "And she had a nice weekend. She made a little money, she felt good. She knew this year was going to be a tough year, but she was motivated. She didn't seem down."

Share Blasberg had a successful collegiate career at the University of Arizona, where she won six times in two years and represented the U.S. on the Curtis Cup team in 2004. "She was part of our family for two years," Greg Allen, her former coach at the University of Arizona told Golfweek. "I can't believe she's gone."

She turned professional in June 2004 and posted four top-10s in eight starts on the Duramed Futures Tour before qualifying for the LPGA Tour in 2005. Her best year on the LPGA circuit was 2008, when she began the season with a career-best tie for eighth at the SBS Open in Hawaii.

"She was a very popular player and well-liked and we're going to miss her," said LPGA spokesman David Higdon. "This is a very close-knit group of players and tour and we're saddened by what happened."

Golf.com reports that Blasberg was also one of a handful of LPGA players to earn product endorsement. Puma had signed Blasberg when it launched its golf division in 2006 and she was featured in two television commercials with PGA Tour star Geoff Ogilvy.

"Erica was a solid player on the course, and brought a fresh sense of youthfulness, fun, beauty and energy to the brand," Bob Philion, the president of Cobra-Puma Golf, told Golf.com in a statement Monday. "She will be greatly missed."
