  • I think St. Brown so far has turned out to be a fantastic pick.

I hope Jameson Williams turns out to be worth it, but the trade and pick gave me pause. The celebration of the pick reminded me of the euphoria or the Roy and Mike Williams pick. The Roy Williams draft had a trade so the Lions also got Kevin Jones. The top three picks were Clownshoe, Jones and Lehman. That draft got universal praise as a fantastic draft and because of that praise Millen got the extension. None of those three did anything of note for the Lions. When they drafted Mike Williams, this forum was overjoyed, there were a few detractors but not many.

I sure hope Jameson Williams is all that is advertised but he had a knee injury and he didn't become the player they drafted until he went to an utterly stacked Alabama team.

The Vikings game was more of what I was expecting, some games where they just don't have quite enough. But the last two games are a big red flag. That shit needs to stop. If it doesn't, then get out the brooms.

That said, I think Campbell will get a year 3 regardless. They gave him the 5 years for a reason. They'll give him a chance to fix mistakes (Aaron Glenn?). What I will be curious to see if we get to the point where DC is headed out the door, is what happens with Holmes? He didn't hire Campbell and they weren't a package deal. Would he survive if they decide to cut bait on DC?
They actually gave him 6 years. Believe it or not.

Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

          • I've just soured on him from hearing his interviews after the Pats game and the articles. He just believes in what he is doing and doesn't see the problem. He got his az (and 3 toes) handed to him by Belichek and Pete Carroll and doesn't get how.

I am all down for players needing to grow and learn, but the HC and DC? Okay. But don't say

“Going into that game, I was not thinking about—I wanted to be much more conservative, and then, man, that’s where it went,” Campbell said.
“You don’t feel good about the field goal range, particularly going into that tunnel where the wind comes back in, so it just kind of moved that way,” Campbell said.
As for the rest of Detroit’s four fourth-down attempts, the Lions coach simply believed the game situation—with the team down three scores or more—necessitated the increased aggressiveness.

But beyond that, Campbell intimated that part of the reason for his aggression on fourth down this year—which is currently on pace for the most fourth down attempts in NFL history—is knowing that the strength on this team is their offense.

“Yeah, I think that’s a lot of it,” Campbell said. “I’ve got a lot of faith in what we do offensively.”

In other words, don’t expect Campbell to turn down the aggressiveness anytime soon.
He's really learned nothing. If the team can't make his poor decisions look better by over coming them, they're doomed. I know it's probably half way from the point of separating from him realistically, but it doesn't look good.

                • it isn't time to get into this discission yet, there is very little nfl talent on that defense.

                    • I can live with the lack of talent in a discussion of the coach. What I can't trumpet is making poor decisions and then instead of being a real good coach and changing his decisions going forward, he does the same ole crap as bad Lions coaches in the past and just doubling down on his poor decisions until he will ultimately get fired (in a couple years) after he causes us losses based on those poor decisions.

We are already going to lose some games from not having enough talent. The coach shouldn't be adding to that total with dumb az decisions. And hopefully we don't lose the locker room after these "young guys who just care about ball" see their coach care more about his pride then their winning.

The same ole part is that they all were arrogantly enough to think that it was someone, something, some curse... that kept them from winning.

                          • But then again winning 7 games this year does them no good.
win 2 or 3 get another High pick, hopefully hit a homer, and get a lot better next season.
They need these draft picks the last 2 years to play and prove themselves.
so far the draft has not panned out mainly to injuries.
