They have to show something in these last 12 games. Some of the inherited cap space was of their doing to get Goff. I am generally positive on Goff and I liked the trade, but they have some responsibility for some of the cap issues. Let's reiterate that they weren't cap strapped this off season, they had some money and mostly they chose to bring back their own players.

How Dan Campbell plans on fixing Lions’ lackluster pass rush
By Jeremy Reisman
On Sunday against the New England Patriots, the Detroit Lions generated a total of two pressures, according to PFF, the lowest figure of any team last week. The average amount of pressures by a team in Week 5 was 16.6.
Detroit ranks 27th in PFF’s pass rush grade and 31st in ESPN’s pass rush win rate. On their current three-game skid, the Lions have managed a total of one sack.So Campbell is spending the bye week formulating ideas to fix one of Detroit’s biggest problems right now. It starts with figuring out what they’ve done best thus far.
“There’s a number of ways you do it you either pressure, pressure, right,” Campbell said. “So, you’re bringing five or six-man pressure. You either just stunt or you let them just fan it out and let them go. Go win a one-on-one or you guys that have it, straight rush. And so, we kind of tinkered with everything, but we’ve got to hammer down on some things that we think we can help them with.”
That said, Campbell is also hopeful that getting some of his key players along the defensive front back from injury will help. John Cominsky produced a team-leading 10 pressures through the first two games before suffering a wrist injury that has caused him to miss the last three contests.Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

That said, I think Campbell will get a year 3 regardless. They gave him the 5 years for a reason. They'll give him a chance to fix mistakes (Aaron Glenn?). What I will be curious to see if we get to the point where DC is headed out the door, is what happens with Holmes? He didn't hire Campbell and they weren't a package deal. Would he survive if they decide to cut bait on DC?

There's been some good defensive play in spurts. First half in Washington, Portions of the Minnesota game. They got off the field on third quite a bit in NE. Unfortunately all but one of those times was in FG range. There's no doubt that the D isn't going to reach a high quality. Good enough to get some W's though if the offense puts up 28+? Definitely possible.

To that point, no need to fire anyone, the Lions will just hire more jokers and nothing will change. Should be clear by now the coaching staff and F O. are out their depth.
Just sit back and enjoy the shit show. It will never change, this is the Lions way.

I also think Hutch and Martinez are looking like good picks. Williams and Paschal could add to that.
Joseph could be a good role player. Same with Levi and McNeil.
3-6 starters and up to 3 good role players in 2 drafts. That is damn good and bordering on excellent. Unless you believe that every pick should be a homerun all the time in which case the problem is with your expectations not the Lions drafting.

Me? I've embraced the failure that is the Lions. I have given up ever seeing a quality football team in Detroit. I just sit back and watch the antics.Detroit Lions: Where futility is a lifestyle choice.

Asking for Millenesque patience is unreasonable. Only two years though? Good luck finding any good coach to come here with such short a leash with bad rosters. I think three is a minimum unless the coach just clearly does not have player support.
