  • Damn, LA's first game this season, and final game last season, both in Detroit.

    • Love the schedule
don’t complain about the bye. They play at Dallas who is coming off a tough game at Pittsburgh the week before while the lions are off.
And they end the season four of the final six games at home.
They play inlay Indy and the year which is indoors so that’s a win. Tough games are at Houston.
at Green Bay at San Fran
If the secondary improves by 25% this team will only lose three games in the regular season.

          • I think 12-5 is doable, which would be great with that schedule.

            • From this article

Five of the six Super Bowl winners since 2017 have had a bye in Week 10 or later. If you go back to 2014, eight of 10 Super Bowl winners have had a bye in Week 9 or later. Over the past 13 years, not a single team has won the Super Bowl in a season where it had a bye before Week 7.
It's pretty rough. The Lions will have to play 16 straight weeks if they make the NFCCG.

              • I don't know how Spotrac comes up with these numbers, but they're generally accurate with salary. If this is true, the Goff salary is completely reasonable:

                • Breakdown by year and definitely NOT front loaded but rather middle loaded. Goff's cap number for FY24 was brought down and next year is well below market as well. But then it jumps to nearly $70M in FY26, before falling back to an average of less than $60M the last two years.

I assume he never sees that $55M base in FY26 and they end up converting that to bonus to spread across future years. No voidable years based on this either. Average value of the deal when you factor in FY24 is less than $50M per year.

                    • Lions play Thanksgiving and then Thursday after that.
Then they have pretty good break til next game.
Too me that is kind of a bye week

                        • The first player I ever remember demanding that he not be traded FROM Detroit.

So the next two years are a smaller cap for each year (specially 2025) hit than they would have been if they went the franchise tag direction (which was never going to happen). They have been reports that 2028 was an option year but this doesn't reflect that. So in essence they take care of him and don't have to worry about him for at least two years and will have to revisit the numbers in 2026.
