Just in the last decade, we've seen some dreadful and baffling coaching decisions on the NFL's biggest stage, but the Lions' Dan Campbell doubled down on his poor strategy, which might have made his performance twice as bad.3,062 carries, 15,269 yards, 5.0 yards/carry, 99 TD
10x Pro Bowl, 6x All-Pro, 1997 MVP, 2004 NFL HoF

All of that was true. But so was this: In the biggest game of his coaching life, Campbell treated the NFC Championship game like a breezy Week 7 game with the Cardinals. There is a time for boldness and there is a time for wisdom, a time to push the envelope and a time to play close to the vest. And three times Campbell made decisions that helped sabotage his team. You have to go back to the beginning here. You have to go back to Dan Campbell’s opening press conference a few years ago.Last edited by Sanders Fan; January 29, 2024, 05:12 AM.3,062 carries, 15,269 yards, 5.0 yards/carry, 99 TD

------------------------------------------------Agreed. He should have taken the FG's but he's a rookie too. He's still a GREAT coach and this is still a GREAT team.GO LIONS "24" !!

LOL - some people just waiting on a chance to go back to the kneecaps quote and use the fourth downs to justify their original meathead takes. When in reality the meatheads are the ones not going for it or are running it 3 times and punting it away.
My advice to you is buckle up because DC is not going to stop being aggressive. Or as DC says, put your diaper on.Last edited by Mainevent; January 29, 2024, 08:29 PM.

I'd like to see Jackson back... but the price he's going to command isn't worth someone who can't stay on the field. He's missed close to about 25% of his possible starts or something to that effect.
Gardner-Johnson wouldn't bother me if he came back (his taunting and mouth are overplayed by people who don't like to see "bad" sportsmanship), but at the end of the day... he really wasn't particularly an upgrade from what was already on the roster. Branch outplayed him for the nickel spot, and Iffy honestly was outplaying him at safety. I really don't see him being willing to be a part of a rotation like he was at the end of the year, and would quickly become a toxic element if asked to.
I'd love to see Glasgow back, and I think we will. He and Jackson will probably be people Holmes really wants to re-sign and will make a priority.
JRM and Reynolds are (or should be) great depth pieces that probably shouldn't be every day starters. They'll probably be back and probably won't ask for much.
The rest are JAGs that can come or go, it'll all depend on the price and what else is available.

What I like about the aggressiveness of Campbell is he is willing to take the criticism of making those decisions. Most of the risk averse coaches will do the conservative thing because it shields them from criticism. Caldwell never really made those type of decisions and they slowly lost a lot of games that they had the lead. In this forum it was a big to-do after another loss where the defense couldn't stop the opponents comeback
It wasn't a 4th down decision, but in the Rams game, that pass to St. Brown was not something a lot of people would call. If it falls incomplete it is a disaster and you possibly give Stafford back the ball with a minute left down one. A ballsy call that those same folks would have skewered if it failed.
