I'm not sure I understand this response. If you think I'm saying Backus was total garbage, do you think I'm saying Mooch was total garbage also? I just said a few posts back that he was alright and that we know why he wasn't able to win. Regardless of the results, I'm saying that he who shall not be named had what I am calling Plan B tunnel vision. And I'm saying that's not a good strategy to maximize talent.

The point is Backus was a highly rated draft prospect that was projected to go in the area he went. When Hutchinson went off then board later than expected and 1 pick before the Lions, the most likely reason they picked Backus was he was the next guy on their draft board, or one the top guys and they had a huge need on the o-line. That’s how the draft operates.

I think you’re trying to create a narrative for a guy who did tons of shit wrong out of an example that doesn’t track. And the coach thing - well that pretty much happens every year - GMs have been trying to get Bill Belichick for years but they can’t so they hire his DCs and then his OCs. Same thing with Andy Reid and his OCs, or any coach that works for Sean McVay.

There's horrible officiating every game...one of the main problems is there are just too many rules, and too many are open to officials interpretation.....There will be numerous calls in these playoffs where people will cry foul...it's just the nature of the game.
