Statistically Jimmy G doesn’t seem like much of an upgrade. He should garner enough interest from teams that he’s not gonna be cheap. Continuity wise he’d be Learning a new offense and I don’t know where he is rehab-wise. And I’m afraid flipping him for Goff could be the first crack in the “We’re a family”/“It’s a business” schism that always sinks locker rooms.

And...the last time I looked Goff doesn't play defense. The early season defense is why they are not sitting starters right now, not Goff.

This idea that we should not draft a QB unless he is going to be Mahomes or Brady is totally unrealistic. Do the names Joey Harrington or Andre Ware ring a bell? They were top 7 picks who did nothing. It is a crap shoot, but you cannot win if you don't play. What is true in the NFL is that if you don't have a top QB, you are likely not going to contend for a Super Bowl. The Lions are in a position to pick Richardson and let him play behind Goff for a year.

Now, if there is some scenario where Stroud slides to #6 (or even more unrealistically to the middle of the round) and all the big defensive players are off the board? Sure, Stroud very likely would be the best available pure talent at that spot, and there's a more than decent chance he'd be an upgrade from Goff pretty damn quickly. But what are honestly the chances of that happening?Last edited by chemiclord; January 8, 2023, 01:28 PM.

Quit looking at the stats and use your fucking eyeballs.
the stats don!t tell the tale here….the lions current record does.
Goff is pretty good when we win….and god awful when we lose. You all refuse to lay any blame for the losses at his feet (the D should have done more)….News flash: we haven’t earned a playoff spot. Quit acting like we have.
Fuck the stats….what’s the win percentage of those 2 QBs in the last 3 years? Don’t give me that statistical downgrade shit…that argument is a dog

I guess you guys know a franchise QB when you see one. To me Goff isn’t the guy you build a team around.
And…since we’re bring up ancient history, when Goff wasn’t playing well early in the season….weren’t you one of the “Goff is Campbell/Holmes guy” and they should be on the hook for his performance? That was convenient when you were trying to tell us how bad Campbell was…
Goff is mediocre….and is not worth 1/6 of the Lions cap. I agree with McVay that he’s not a franchise QB

I’m saying that it’s imperative that Goff reduce his cap number…and if he won’t do that the Lions should be prepared to walk away.
