The throwbacks are iconic because they have no logo and no stripes, but the league mandates that they be a logo and stripes on the current uniforms. So it's hard to see how it changes that much.Comment

I love blue and silver for scheme, it is very distinctive. So distinctive that the vagabond Raiders of Las Vegas with Al Davis took the silver.
The NFL uniforms have very clear mandates on what they have to have. They have to have stripes on the sleeves and the helmet, and it has to be with specific widths and placements There has to be some kind of logo/pattern on the helmet, I think the Browns have some grandfathered exemption to that. I think there has to be stripes on the pants.
It leaves the designer of a uniform limited in what he/she can do to be distinctive. It comes down to logo, fonts and colors. College uniforms can be much more flashy and/or distinctive.Comment
