  • I wonder if Williams is a bit worn down - he's not exactly dynamic to begin with but he's looked more plodding than usual the last couple of weeks. He's at 50 more carries than he's ever had so it would make some sense given the way he runs. Wouldn't mind see them mixing in Jackson more early on or use Swift more on passes out the backfield to supplement the run game a little more.

I would argue a part of that is because opponents have been keying on on the running game, and daring Goff to beat them. He did twice, and almost was able to do the same against Buffalo. But with the Jets secondary, they might be able to handle the Lions receivers man to man, and allow the rest of the defense to also suffocate the run. If they're right, I think it's going to come down to if the Lions' defense can make the plays to win games rather than just do enough for the offense to overwhelm the opponent.

They are pretty.much a zone defense team that doesn't blitz much.

          • Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

              • Minnesota Vikings v Detroit Lions

Notes: 3 Detroit Lions make list of top 25 rookies of 2022

No team has more rookies on this top-25 list than the Detroit Lions

                By Kellie Rowe

The Detroit Lions rookies are balling out.

That’s not news to anyone who’s tuned in, including NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah. Entering the final quarter of the regular season, the media analyst ranked the top 25 rookies and three Lions made the list — the highest number of any NFL team.

                      • Do you guys think Rodriguez is a long term starter? That's tough for me. He gets washed out of a lot of plays ... but I guess a lot of LB do. At least he doesn't miss tackles
WHO CARES why it says paper jam when there is no paper jam?

He is showing a lot of potential as a 1st year player, and is IMO our best LB. Next year I think he'll continue to see starter level snaps on the defense as I don't think they are going to upgrade the LB position 3 times. If he continues to develop, especially in the pass game, he could be a long term starter. If he regresses, or if he becomes a pass game liability with someone better he'll be a rotational/situational guy.

I’m not sure about the size but he assess plays really quickly and that’s insane for a rookie. I think he’s going to be a helluva football player and could be the QB of a defense. He does need more size and speed around him tho

Lions rookie linebacker James Houston has made a major impact in his first four NFL games, and on Saturday he may make history.

Houston has recorded a sack in each of the four games he has played so far, and if he records a sack against the Panthers, he’ll be the first NFL player since sacks have been recorded who had a sack in each of his first five career games.

Houston is currently one of just three players in NFL history who have had a sack in their first four games. The others are Santana Dotson in 1992 and Terrell Suggs in 2003.

A sixth-round draft pick who began his college career at Florida and then was recruited to Jackson State by Deion Sanders, Houston didn’t make the Lions’ initial roster but spent the start of this season on the practice squad before getting called up to the active roster before Thanksgiving. He’s been on a tear since then, making other teams wish they had signed Houston when he was available, and making opposing quarterbacks wish he were still on the practice squad.
