Why was it not cleared up in-game?

Drove my wife crazy saying that they should be jamming to slow them down all game. If I can see it in-game, what were they doing? Are they not communicating in-game?

you would think a small group of men could address a problem that is happening in the moment and at least attempt to fix it.

We're not saying it would be easy. We're not saying it would have even worked. We're saying, "If that was your plan, why the hell did absolutely no one seem to address it at all during the damn game?"

Like I said, we don't know the whole story. Prior to the game on the pregame Lomas and TJ were skeptical of the strategy because it's hard to press those receivers and nobody tries.

We did have Amani Onuriware try to press Theilen earlier in the year and had a thousand penalties.

Campbell has every right to fire coaches based on results. And if he doesn't get results he will get fired.

It seems to me that the more likely explanation is that they thought what you did all week, that pressing these receivers wasn't going to be the solution, then caught scrambling when playing off them didn't help. Then they scapegoated Pleasant, and basically lied to cover their asses. The story, at least the way that Campbell and Glenn tell it, doesn't make much sense at all.

To me, people overrate in game adjustments. Most of it is baked in at kickoff, I watched coaches make adjustments in high school games for over 20 years and the most effective adjustments were very small differences in how the offensive line would block a play.

So... what you're arguing is that Pleasant "went into business for himself," did entirely the opposite of what Campbell and Glenn game planned all week, and come Sunday just shrugged and said, "Eh, we'll run with it," without any signs of protest during the game, attempted no changes to the game plan Pleasant unilaterally installed for the secondary, and then waited forty-eight hours to fire this clearly dishonest and duplicitous position coach, all the while talking him up as he was kicked out the door?

That doesn't sound at least a little bit... absurd to you? I mean, I get that it's the Lions and all, but Christ... that's kinda far-fetched even for the Lions, don't you think?

Especially when the much simpler (and much more Lions-like) explanation is right in front of you; that the Lions secondary sucked shit last Sunday, was going to suck shit no matter what scheme they were running, and that Campbell and Glenn are trying to cover their ass by offering Pleasant up as a scapegoat?

And High School games are like what? 3 tiers below the NFL level of coaching - who have more information than they probably know what to do with?
The absolute worst thing in the most elite level of any team sport is predictability. The very best in that sport can exploit that to no end - and if you are handicapped by talent - your inability to adapt just makes the inevitable exponentially worse. By the time you realize you need to change, the game is essentially over.
