  • Hock has been a disappointment to be honest. For as high a pick he was supposed to be a dual threat like Kittle. His blocking is the main reason the Lions are willing to let him go.

      • There is no faith in this team ever to be great if people are concerned about Hockinson dominating the Lions in the next 5 years.
If Hock dominates the lions then their a 6 win team anyway.

        • I like Hock. I wanted him to be great but it wasn't happening here.Plus, I didn't ever think he was worth where he was picked in the first place.

Besides he always seemed nicked up. I can't recall him practicing a full week more than a handful of times the whole time he was here.

It's cute that you think this could be a 6-win team. If only we could aspire to such rarefied air.

            • The more I think about trading Hock the more I think it was probably a good idea. The only thing that truly scares me is that they landed another 2nd round pick to f up.

I hope they package both 2nd to move back up into the first round.
              F#*K OHIO!!!

Why? Got an injured player in mind that Holmes might target?

                  lol

It’s better than 2 injured players he’s looking at

                    • Fifth-year option is guaranteed money. Trading Hockenson frees up $9.4 million in 2023 cap space that Holmes couldn't have gotten back by cutting Hockenson.

Other plausible 2023 cap space moves:
                      • $10 million from releasing Brockers
                      • $20 million from cutting Goff
                      • $7.5 million if they've decided Romeo Okwara is never coming back
                      • $6.6 million if Vaitai is gone
So, call it $55 million in cap space and five picks in the top 65? Should be able to find a DT, 2x LB, and a couple of defensive backs.

Tanking, so keep St. Brown, Cephus, and Jameson on the sidelines for the rest of '22 to be healthy for '23 OTAs. Raymond & Reynolds are much better WR 3/4/depth than WR 1/2.

Go get one of: {Geno Smith, Jimmy Garoppalo, Jacoby Brissett} in free agency and draft Young, Stroud, Levis, or Hooker.

Then, all the Allen Park brain trust needs is for the staff to coach the guys up and stay healthy.

Ah, shoot. Ran out of Kool-Aid.

All we need after that is a competent owner.

Why would any decent player at all want to come to this franchise? I can see the money appeal, but most have to know they are not winning in Detroit anytime soon (if ever).....

                            • Hockensuck was the definition of a middling player. 2nds are hard to get. We also landed a future 3rd. No way was this guy worth big time TE money. He just never seemed to make a big play. He wasn’t a downfield threat. Save the money, get some picks, and obtain flexibility. The dude pulled a vanishing act in a lot of games.

The draft will be interesting. We don’t NEED to go QB. I would think it likely based on the amount of guys out there, but we don’t have to be forced to take a guy at 1/1. We can do move around (which Holmes has clearly shown) and get whoever we like. That’s assuming we even like any of the QB this draft. Who the hell knows.
