I don't know where the expectation that the second worse team in the NFL would be good this year came from.
I couldn't agree more. The Lions had no talent and a lot of dead money. Cannot build with that. That excuse won't last for me past this year however.

    • You keep on repeating that but the Lions had 36 million dollars in cap money this off-season . They had the sixth highest amount of money in the league. That's enough to get at least a couple productive players. Also, some of their cap issues are due to trading for Goff. I am generally positive on Goff, but they have to make it work. You can't complain about salary cap issues and not acknowledge Holmes has responsibility for that.

      • At the end of the day, neither person deserves to get canned right now. But they both have questions to answer going forward.

If Detroit continues to look this bad and poorly managed at the end of this year, I would have no problem with Campbell being told to take a hike. He needs to show some signs that he's actually putting thought into the game in the heat of the moment and is putting them in the best possible position.

You don't always need three years to tell a guy can't do the job.

As for Holmes, he's banking on Year 3, and so am I. They better be at least contending for a playoff spot by the end of next year, or he can take a hike as well.

        • Last year I was consistent in saying the Goff trade made it the first two years a write off. But I have been thoroughly unimpressed so far with talent procurement so far. I do not like drafting injured players especially if you are taking a pass on any impact players in free agency. And for fucks sake get a damn kicker.

All the tea in China isn't going to get some former players to show up to a Washington Commander's honor parade.
Money is one thing, players need the motivation to jump.
What this team has is a lot of hope, but essentially the most greenhorn coaching staff in the league to boot.

If I was a FA and the Lions came calling I'd at best be apprehensive, and at worst in the "you are cursed, go take a hike" crowds.

            • Does who they lost to matter? So far they've lost to two 3-3 teams a 5-1 team and a 6-0 team. They were only non-competitive in one of those.

Phily was literally the only team they were supposed to lose to.
The rest were there to be had. They got 1......
The Vikings opponents they have beaten have a combined 11-18 record - and that includes Miami without it's starting QB and Rodgers with nobody to throw to.
They literally had the Vikings by the nutsack, but someone forgot to tell them just squeeze.

Give me a break with this malarkey, NFL players go to highest bid. It's very simple, if you have the most money to offer, they come to your team. They chose to bring all their guys back and it hasn't worked.

That’s about my roll too. Im not done with MCDC yet. Let’s see how they react to adversity. He def cost us the Minny game for sure but I still love him.

I hated Marinelli from the start. Patricia took me a few games to realize the super smart slob act was only 50% correct.

How long can 1 person impersonate BB?
                    F#*K OHIO!!!

This is where the two sides of the coin need to be looked at.
Heads: Yeah, guys go to the highest bidder - because money is mostly what they are after.
Tails: Guys routinely turn down the highest bidder to go to a team with a chance to win something.

I'd argue it's the latter guys that most fit what this regime is looking for - and they aren't in a good position to land them.

                        • MCDC is in Jim Shorts territory IMO. Schwartz could have seriously done something but he couldn’t get out of his own way. MCDC has been great for the culture but some of these calls have made him look foolish.

                          • Schwartz not understanding the rules, getting emotional and challenging a scoring play that was going to be reversed in a mandatory review anyways (on National TV on Turkey Day no less) - that was his Magnum Opus.
