Sit him for as long as he needs. That kid is going to be an electric WR.

You're not only an amazingly beautiful man, but you're the greatest football mind to ever exist. <-- Jeffy Shittypants actually posted this. I knew he was in love with me.

    • We'll see. They have me firmly in show me mode. Guys like Levi that were wrecking sh!t in college have done next to nothing and haven't progressed much, or been continually injured. I hope he does. We need him. And more.
Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

      • Jesus. Some of you are posting as if you didn't know that this talentless team was going to be a shit-show this year.

Fiiiiiiiiiiiiire the cooooaaaach! The GM suuuuuuuuuuucks.

        Fuck.

          • No way should the coach or GM be fired before year 3 though.

            • They haven't regressed. Hell, they've improved, even with their current record. They just are devoid of talent and the coaches know it. That is why they go for it on fourth down. (that and not having a kicker that is worth a shit, but I guess that falls under devoid of talent...)
lThey know they are not good enough to go toe to toe with other teams and need to steal a couple of possessions to have a chance to win.

It may not be a great strategey, but it's the best they have.

They are what they are. A 5 win team at best.

              • Coaches and gms maybe shouldn't be fired after two years, but the Lions have been preaching patience for as long as I have watched them. The Lions hurt their franchise a few times in my mind for giving coaches a third year. Marinelli should never have been given a third year. Patricia should have been gone after the second year.

But in this case man... I mean Quintricia did a real number on this franchise. Destroyed them, mind, body and soul. They had to trade away their best player, and future HOF, just to get enough chips to rebuild. The old parts (aside Taylor and Ragnow) were all broken or JAGs. And it cost them (to this day) in dead cap to clear out the bad.

IDK, giving them a third year may be the equivalent to a second year.

                  • I was firmly in the camp to give Quinntricia a year 3. That turned out to be very wrong. Seems like it’s only fair to say the same about Holmes/ Campbell… at the same time, we need to see progression. Not regression. Warning signs are scary…

                    • The one thing we have to think about is that the schedule so far has been much harder than the conventional wisdom thought it would be. The opponent record for the first 5 games is 17-11. The momentum of the previous season is based on 3 wins, but people don't look at the last three losses. They got blown out in two of the losses and then other loss was to a dismal Falcon team.

I agree on both Marinelli and Patricia.

it's too soon for Cambell and Holmes

I don't know where the expectation that the second worse team in the NFL would be good this year came from.

                        • I never said they'd be good but I don't think Holmes has done a good job so far. They have to win some games, if they finish 1-15 or 2-14, they all need to be broomed out. I'm hoping they get better over the season. So far Holmes has added Sewell and St. Brown, I haven't been impressed by the free agent additions and I'm unimpressed with the drafting of these injured players. That has been a pet peeve of mine with the Lions for a long time.

                          • For me I always think the Lions give these regimes far too much rope. They work on a 5-6 year schedule and then rest of the league work on a 1-3 year schedule. If you don't see a team going in a good direction in year 2 and you continue to go with those fellas for year three you are setting up the next regime for failure. That's what we saw with both the Patricia and Marinelli regimes, the third year made it worse.

There has to be more positives than what we have seen so far.

                            • The last coach the Lions kept for more than three years without posting a winning record was Darryl Rogers. GM's tend to get longer but that also tends to be the general rule across the league.

I just don't think it's good practice to be giving coaches only two years even if that occasionally means someone got one too many. Patricia to me is the only exception to that. He ruined a decent roster and chased off all of its best players and never won over the locker room at any point. You certainly can't say that about Campbell. Unless you blame Holmes/Campbell for Stafford. I think everyone recognizes that as on Patricia though too even if he waited until after to say see ya.

I might agree in some situations. However the rebuild cannot start until the tear down is done. At best the rebuild started this year.
