  • Despite losing its sixth straight game on Thanksgiving Day, the Detroit Lions showed signs of turning the corner in Sunday's loss to the high-powered Buffalo Bills.

Taylor Decker after loss to Bills: 'This isn't the (expletive) same old Lions anymore'

"This isn't the (expletive) same old Lions anymore," left tackle Taylor Decker said, via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. "We're going to go out there, and we're going to get our respect, and we're going to earn that respect. We came up short today, but week in and week out, we know we're going to go out there, and we're going to bring it. And we're not going to get down, we're going to keep fighting. And those will turn into wins against those sorts of teams, those high-caliber teams. And I think we're still trending up, I really do."

    • Cool. When it actually happens, we'll drop the "Same Ol' Lions" moniker.

      Talk is cheap as hell.

It is already happening. Has been since Holmes took over. Only ones who can't see it just choose to keep their heads buried. Lions are playing games with playoff hopes in December. We have likely the 2 best draft classes in the last 2 years. We have a young core of great players. We have no crushing contracts. We have draft capital going forward.

Lions probably won't make the playoffs this year, but they have a shot. And from where we were 2 years ago that is amazing.

        • Cool. And if they can start winning some playoff games, we'll drop the moniker.

But until it... ya know... actually happens, they will remain the "Same Ol' Lions."

          • Nah just to people like you. Nothing the Lions will ever do will change your opinion of them. Kind of reminds of Homer and the Isotopes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miQm1lcsCSk

            • Well, if we ever actually... ya know... get to that point, we'll see if your theory is correct.

I just love how you keep acting like our expectations are unreasonable or some shit, when the reality of the NFL looks something like this:

We are literally asking the Lions to clear the lowest of bars before we start to believe they might on the right path to a championship.

              • Yea because the 1970s are a factor today. Dang. You got me. It makes perfect sense that if the Lions haven't been successful then they never can be. Guess I'll give up all hope and just bitch even when they are playing well because you found a chart on the internet.

                • They are a factor in that we have heard this particular song and dance from the likes of Campbell and Holmes many times before. And more than once, they all flashed "promise" and "potential" too. The Jim Schwartz era wasn't that long ago, for example. If you've been an avid fan for decades as you claim, you should remember that time.

I'm sorry it pisses you off that fans like me want to see actual results before we buy in, but you're just gonna have to deal with it.

I get both sides of the argument but I agree with you. Even though last year was abysmal in record they fought like hell every game. It has the same feeling this year. Besides the NE game that was a complete shit show

Everything is different with this team. The drafts are some of the best in the NFL. They just need to start winning
                    F#*K OHIO!!!

You're not only an amazingly beautiful man, but you're the greatest football mind to ever exist. <-- Jeffy Shittypants actually posted this. I knew he was in love with me.

                    • Over the last month, they have been winning. The games we are losing are generally due to inexperienced players and coaches. The Lions team is young and hungry. We have new ownership, new GM, new coach and staff and new players. This is an entirely new group doing things in ways we have not seen in Detroit since the 90s when the Lions were making the playoffs regularly. I love that the Lions are developing players. The staff and front office aren't acting like a bunch of clowns. They aren't ostracizing players. They aren't making a bunch of tired excuses.

And all this "i'll believe the Lions are good when they prove it" is bs. That isn't believing. That is simply acknowledging. Failure by the negative cry babies who can't see the difference in the team over the last two year and the previous 20 doesn't change what the team is doing. I don't know where this regime will take the Lions, but it looks good. And for the first time in a long time, it isn't the same feel.

The Schwartz era never had the same momentum or feel. Schwartz never had the success with the draft that Campbell/Quinn had. Not to mention that Schwartz had the Mayhew stink all over him. Very few believed in Mayhew as a protege of Millen. Lions had a good run one year with Schwartz and because of the playoff birth people were excited that one year but that was it.

It doesn't piss me off. You are just wrong. Waiting for actual results before you acknowledge the Lions to win the Superbowl before you acknowledge anything has no bearing on anything. You can sit here and cry all you want. I'm excited. I'm happy with this team. Happier than I've been since the 90s. I think you are the one pissed off pal. Be mad all you want. Complain all year. I'm going to enjoy my Lions team.

                        • You can say you're happy, but your every post on this topic screams that you're mad others really don't care much about how this team "feels" to you.

Deal with it on your own time.

                          • Yea, you make a good point. What am I thinking writing my thoughts on the Lions on a Lions forum. I forgot this forum is for people like you just bitch constantly and discussing the Lions should be reserved for those who have your blessing. That should be more clear in the rules.

                            • Yeah, funny how people are allowed to do that, even if you don't like what they are saying and you think they're wrong.

Just get it over with and tell us we're not "true fans." You know you want to.

Well you've evolved from telling me no one cares what I think and questioning why I am posting about the Lions to telling me what to post. How lovely. Should I just give you my account so you can post on my behalf too?

But I'll give you some credit. You've made it like 4 posts without mindlessly regurgitating "SOL SOL" because the Lions aren't favored to win the SB. Which varying ways of crying SOL is really the extent of your capability of discussing this team. I can see why it bothers you when people are optimistic about the Lions future right now since it doesn't fit the narrative you are comfortable discussing.
