  • According to PFF Alim McNeill now has the most pressures in a game for a 320+ player with 10 against the giants. Passing Dexter Lawrence's 9.

      Haha! for a 320+ player.

      What a useless fucking stat.

I was going to say the same thing but I left it alone because the kid dominated…. for a fat kid

He destroyed the OL, they couldn’t contain him. I have no idea why they need to throw useless stats out there. Check the tape
        F#*K OHIO!!!

You're not only an amazingly beautiful man, but you're the greatest football mind to ever exist. <-- Jeffy Shittypants actually posted this. I knew he was in love with me.

        • It is pretty useless, but they are probably trying to use is as a way to distinguish DTs, normally when you are 320+ you are they mainly to plug the line up.

              I hadn't heard...

Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

                • Jameson Williams “real, real, real excited” to be back on the field

Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams‘ long absence from the football field came to an end this week.

The Lions designated Williams for return from the non-football injury list that he’s been on since the start of training camp. Williams tore his ACL at the end of his time playing for Alabama, but the Lions still took him in the first round because of the excitement his speed can bring to the offense.

He won’t be showing that off in this week’s game against the Bills, but his NFL debut is coming soon and Williams is feeling the excitement that comes with moving closer to that moment.

“I’m real, real, real excited to put my cleats on, be able to put a jersey on and be able to get out there with the guys and actually be a part of the team,” Williams said, via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. “It was something I missed a lot and I’m just happy to get back going.”

The Lions rank eighth in the league in points scored this season. If all goes well, adding Williams should make them an even more potent group over the final weeks of this year while also raising hope for what the future will bring in Detroit.

                  • PFT’s Week 11 2022 NFL awards

Posted by Mike Florio on November 23, 2022, 6:39 AM EST

                    USA TODAY Sports

It’s awards time. It’s time for awards.

This is the spot where I fill a few paragraphs explaining what the awards are. After 10 prior weeks, I don’t really need to do it.

So we can get right to it. Five award winners. Plenty of other finalists for each one.

Rookies of the week: Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson.

The rookie usually does his best work when chasing the quarterback. On Sunday, he pretended to do so before dropping into coverage and made an impressive interception that sparked an upset road win over the Giants.

It came with less than seven minutes in the first half. The Giants led the game, 6-3. On the second and six play that started at the New York 31, Hutchinson started to rush and then backpedaled, snatching the all at the line to gain and returning it inside the 20.

Hutchinson also recovered a fumble. The interception made him the second player since 1982 with at least five sacks and two interceptions in his first 10 career games, joining Leslie O’Neal, who did it in 1986.

Other finalists: Titans receiver Treylon Burks (seven catches, 111 yards), Packers receiver Christian Watson (two receiving touchdowns), Bills running back James Cook (86 rushing yards), Chiefs receiver Skyy Moore (five catches, 63 yards), Saints receiver Chris Olave (five catches, 102 yards, one touchdown).

                    • Aidan Hutchinson is the NFC defensive player of the week

The Lions drafted defensive end Aidan Hutchinson with the second overall pick this year with the hope that he will play a leading role on their next winning team and his rookie season has provided reason to believe that will be the case.

The latest evidence came against the Giants last Sunday. Hutchinson fooled Giants quarterback Daniel Jones when he dropped into coverage on a second quarter play and Jones threw a pass that Hutchinson picked off to set up the Lions’ first touchdown of what would go on to be a 31-18 Lions win.

Hutchinson’s interception made him the second player since 1982 with at least five sacks and two interceptions in his first 10 career games. Leslie O’Neal did the same thing in 1986.

Hutchinson also had three tackles and a fumble recovery in the Lions win and the NFL named him the NFC defensive player of the week on Wednesday.

                      • Tracy Walker believes artificial turf in Minnesota led to his torn Achilles

Add Lions safety Tracy Walker to the list of players who think artificial turf increases their risk of injuries.

Walker, who suffered a torn Achilles tendon in Week Three at Minnesota, told Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press that he could feel during pregame warmups that his cleats were sticking awkwardly in the turf at U.S. Bank Stadium. That led him to change into a different pair of shoes, and he believes that all contributed to his season-ending injury.

“When I tore my Achilles, that was the first thing I thought about, like, ‘I switched cleats,’” Walker said. “So it’s just like, that’s — it could have been that. It could have been, I don’t know. That’s just my belief. I feel like that had a lot to do with it cause that day I remember, particularly, I don’t switch my cleats out and I remember Minnesota cause my new cleats were sticking, so I switched cleats.”

NFL players have grown increasingly vocal about their preference for playing on grass, while the league says injury data shows synthetic turf is no more dangerous. Walker is among those who think it’s past time for safer playing surfaces.
