    I don’t like indoor football.
Of the 3 options, I'd rather see open, or full dome.
Retractable would never be open for a SB, and most likely would never be open to begin with during the regular season unless it was 70 and sunny.
70 and sunny in Detroit? From September to January? Rare at best.

Makes sense in Dallas, not so much in Detroit - unless they planned on having that a 365 day venue for other activities other than football.

    • Detroit Lions Announce 4 Roster Moves ahead of Bears Game

      JOHN MAAKARON2 HOURS AGO

The Detroit Lions announced several roster moves ahead of their Week 10 game against the Chicago Bears.

The team announced on Saturday afternoon they are temporarily elevating linebacker Jarrad Davis and wideout Stanley Berryhill from the practice squad.

In addition to the practice squad elevations, it was announced Jason Cabinda was activated off the PUP list and tight end Shane Zylstra was signed to the active roster.

With the team getting healthier, as defensive backs Ifeatu Melifonwu, Chase Lucas along with offensive lineman Matt Nelson all returned to practice this week, the opportunity has presented itself for the coaching staff and young roster to build more momentum in the second half of the season.

"There’s an opportunity to do a few things here that we haven’t done since I’ve been here and us as a team, the guys that have been here for two years," said Dan Campbell. "But there again I think you have to just focus on the job at hand and it really is about the game plan and what your role is in the game plan and how you function inside of that, and just trusting the guy that’s next to you.

"I think if you start going off that path that’s where it really doesn’t do you any good. So, look we’ve got to play hard, you’ve got to every week, but this team plays hard," Campbell continued. "We’ve got to match and go beyond their effort. And we have to keep (Justin) Fields in the pocket. We have to. He’s a good athlete, he can make things happen with his feet, but that’ll give us our best chance of success. We hustle more than these guys do and we don’t allow one to beat us.”

      • I'm glad the Lions went with the roof. It SUCKS siting in the cold , rain, snow, freezing, trying to enjoy the game. I don't care what the lying Packer fans say about "loving" the open field with grass. I've went to several games in GB with the temp at or below freezing. Not fun at all. It's AWESOME going into a warm stadium after freezing while tailgating. The people who want an open field with grass have never gone to a game in the above conditions. If they have it's one, maybe two.
        GO LIONS "24" !!

        • Lions have their longest winning streak since October 25, 2020 - and next week will go for their longest since Nov 2017 when Caldwell went 9-7.

And we know what former GM Bob Quinn did at the end of that 2017 season, the beginning of the awful Head Coach who shall not be named.

              • If Ford Field was built now, there is a much better chance of a retractable roof. But at the time, the Lions and Tigers and the city pretty much did the best they could funding wise to build the two stadiums. The money both teams fronted hindered them for awhile with the debt servicing.

The field turf was a big improvement over Astroturf but if it is still subpar. They are trying to come up with a replacement but I'm not sure how close they are.

                • I just read an article this week about how the Packers have dropped prices on those late season games….apparently the cold “open air” experience sells better when the team is winning.

Cold beer and winning makes everything better.

                  • I think people who convince themselves that they love those cold January games are fooling themselves.

                    • I enjoy watching them. From my couch. Unless it's really bad and both teams are shit.

                      • You have to remember they have concerts and all sorts of other events in the winter. A roof in MI makes total sense.

                          • We’ve got some young exciting pieces on this team, Hutch, St Brown, Rodrigo, Joseph, Jacobs, and soon to come Jameson Williams. There’s light on the horizon.

Do they have concerts in Green Bay?
