According to Dave Birkett of The Detroit Free Press, Badgley successfully hit two long field goals, from 53 and 60 yards, during the team’s situational drills.Last edited by edindetroit; May 24, 2024, 06:24 PM."Your division isn't going through Green Bay it's going through Detroit for the next five years" - Rex Ryan

Oh, I am certain the Lions feel they have their kicker for 2024.
I also think it's a big mistake. Their complete unseriousness in upgrading the kicker position is probably the only thing I strongly dislike about Holmes's team building method.Last edited by chemiclord; May 25, 2024, 02:26 PM.

Love to be able to hit from 60. I feel like 55 yards on occasion is enough.
Money Badger has been working on distance… Seems like 50 ish was the old line. Id be curious on his 50 yard makes how far the ball traveled past? What was he good from on his hits?AAL - Glover Quinn

A way to look at Badgely as the Lions Kicker, why it's probably a roster-building strategic decision to not invest more:
1. Badgely is as good as any NFL kicker in everything except field goals more than 53 yards. Even on those, he's only marginally worse
2. Dan Campbell follows analytics, so he avoids long field goals because they rarely increase your odds of winning.
3. Badgely costs $1M/yr. Above average NFL kickers cost $4M/year
Do you really want to take $3M out of the annual salary cap for a marginal increase in the ability to kick a long field goal, something you'll only be doing 3-4 times per season, instead of using it on other positions?Last edited by El Axe; May 26, 2024, 01:42 PM.
