  • Detroit may want to add a high-end corner, but I don't see Holmes parting with draft picks for one THEN having to pay a premium.

    • Yeah, don't expect it to be Sneed if the cost is a 1st or 2nd round draft pick and the big contract. Makes me think more like Fuller would be the target, or perhaps Gilmore on a 2 year deal for like $25M or something.

      • No way would I send a 1st or 2nd for a sign and trade. I doubt many teams would. He’s a nice CB but he’s not Champ Bailey in his prime

Sneed allowed ONE TD against all year regular season and playoffs combined. Can't get much better than that.

            • Kendall Fuller on a 3 year deal makes a lot of sense. I have this feeling that the Lions sign two new CBs in FA and then draft one.

              I could see something like

              Kendall Fuller
              Niesan (spelling?) from GB
              Rakestraw?

Add in Sutton and bring back someone like Jacobs and all of a sudden that secondary looks like a strength (Fuller, Sutton, Niesan, Rakestraw, Jacobs, Branch, KJ and Iffy) with the top 8.
2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. Coleman QB 7b) Kewshan Martin WR

              • Sneed's been pretty damn good the last two years at 6 ft. 190lbs (also a 4.37 coming out at draft time).

                • Sneed is def worth a nice contract but he’s not the best CB in the league. That’s who I’d give up premium draft picks for

                  • ESPN reported word is the Detroit Lions are "pretty set on adding a high-end corner" this offseason. Here are 6 options in trades, NFL free agency.

                    • Will be interesting to see how FA shakes out - KC will probably want alot for Sneed, don't see Hoimes giving up high draft capital, we do all agree I think that a significant upgrade at CB is needed.....

                      • I’m back and forth on this corner trade topic. I think Sneed has become one of the better corners in the league (his battle against Tyreek Hill in the playoffs was really impressive). But I really am not a fan of giving up premium draft capital to get a tagged guy who you then have to immediately pay top of the market money for.

                        • If the Lions think they are one piece away from being a champion, then ya know what? Yes, it would be worth it. Sneed's arguably one of the top corners in the league period, much less that would be available right here, right now.

The question Holmes needs to ask is if they really are just one CB away. It's that really the only major piece they are lacking?

                          • Sneed is also 27. That’s a bit older than i thought he was

                            • I haven’t had the courage to re-watch that game, but curious if the refs don’t pick up the flag if that pass ended up incomplete…

Certainly not one piece away, but this roster is talented enough to be a contender over the next few seasons. Lions have primary needs at G, edge rusher, and outside CB. Secondary needs at several other spots.
I would be willing to make an offer of pick #61 for Sneed due to having four picks in the top 100. #29 is too rich for my liking. Hypothetically trading for Sneed would fill an egregious hole from last season. Lions would be getting Sneed in his prime over the next few years. He’s the best CB that can be acquired and that’s why there’s some sense to it. Though adding a guy like Kendall Fuller would be much cheaper and be a clear upgrade over Jacobs/ Vildor/ Dorsey/ Harris etc.

                              Tough call.

That's... not particularly old, all things considered. Hypothetically, you can count on another 3-4 years of high level play before he age really starts to catch up to him, which is about as long as most teams' championship windows will run.
