The run game coordinator is defensively related, like he is organizing the game plans to stop the opponent running game.
I thought I posted a comment about that originally but must have deleted before posting. You frequently see those titles on the offensive side - more often passing game coordinator, but sometimes like the RB coach is also the running game coordinator. While it may be a common role on defense, just don't recall seeing that actual title designation for defensive coaches before. But likely just a continued emphasis and clarity for the roles and responsibilities the staff has. It's not a title the Lions had before and they don't have a defensive passing game coordinator right now.
Yeah, but hard to be analyzing the run game and working with the DL on game day. Maybe it's more common that we're aware of, but typically when you see dual roles, they are on the same side of the ball.

I've heard of defensive coaches having this title but I think it's a fairly recent trend. Michigan had hired Steve Clinksdale as a defensive pass coordinator in 2021.
This sent me down a little bit of a rabbit hole looking as various coaching staffs and apparently JT Barrett is an assistant QB coach with the Lions. (probably mentioned in here at some point but I don't recall)
Glad AG is returning. I look forward to Holmes and company giving him some more talent to work with this offseason. Another pass rush threat on the D-line (either outside or from the interior) and a starting caliber CB opposite Sutton (and some quality depth behind them) would be ideal.

Brad Holmes will also have to address the Offensive line, since Jonah Jackson might be gone, and Decker is dinged up, but still playing at a high level.
We also need another possession/deep threat receiver, because as much as I like Josh Reynolds, those 2 drops of his were killer ones, and we can't have our players dropping the ball at the most inopportune times, especially in the Playoffs.
