      • Next season looks different with Ben at OC.

BTW. I lost a bet. I thought Ben would never stay.

He's a different cat that is for sure....Doesnt necessarily walk the same path that others do....He makes good money (not head coaches money but still a good living), and seems to love his job and Detroit.

          • I believe having kids he would have to uproot also plays into it. I believe his thinking was..... OK, pay me a King's ransom, or ya know..... I'll just go finish this fucking thing and get that much on the flippity flip..

            • If I had to guess, the Chargers gig would have been his first choice. Of the remaining positions, the Washington gig is a new ownership situation and their offensive line is a shambles. The Seattle job has good skill position players but they’re picking later so the top QBs could be gone.

Even the Chargers job has issues. That are massively over the cap so defense is going to have to be let go. And there owner is cheap and seems to be cultutal issues there too.

                • Great news on Johnson. Players love him, he obviously loves the Lions. We keep his talent and maintain team harmony. The players don't have to learn a new OC. Don't have to worry about that. Johnson and the players know each other.

                  • The jobs that become available almost always are going to have issues. Otherwise they wouldn’t be available. It’s rare for a ready made contender to be in the market.

Jim Harbaugh has his work cut out for him. Ownership is go be a huge issue

It will be interesting to see how it goes there...Jim is a winner no doubt, but always seems to have other issues to deal with when he is head coach.....He won with the 49ers and even took a sub par throwing QB and made it work for awhile.....With the Chargers he has a QB with elite arm talent...Probably the best QB Jim will have ever had to work with.....Anxious to see how it goes.

True but Herbert seems to be a special talent and they have some really nice weapons. I bet offensive coaches would love the opportunity to coach there.

                            • Apparently the Lions have hired a new DL coach.

                              • The news Ben Johnson was staying in Detroit broke a little before 1 p.m. Tuesday. Amon-Ra St. Brown already had known for more than three hours.

Almost 24 hours after the Lions suffered heartbreak in the NFC Championship, Josh Reynolds wasn’t any closer to getting over his role in the collapse.
