The thing with those Hutch stats are, they are so high in part because he plays so many snaps. His efficiency as a pass rusher isn’t great (think it was like 30th earlier this year). There’s value in being on the field a lot and playing well for that many snaps. But it makes the counting stats a bit misleading.

Random thought: Can you imagine the 'welcome' Fatty Matty Patty would get if he had to come into Ford Field with the Eagles?
Man I would love to see it.Lions Fans.

Hutchinson's PFF grade is still a gaudy 90, its noticeable when he isn't setting the edge correctly. This is much different than when the Lions were running their wide 9 scheme under Schwartz where they would have games where they got gashed on basic running plays.

The ends would line up so wide you could run for 10 yards between the tackles untouched often.....You could understand the basic premise of it, but mostly it took too long to work and left huge holes in between the tackles.

I assumed he used it when the Eagles won the Super Bowl a few years back. Guess not"Your division isn't going through Green Bay it's going through Detroit for the next five years" - Rex Ryan

Nobody said it can't be effective, it wasn't effective for the Lions when they ran it a lot, they got gashed on the run at times. This current staff prioritizes stopping the run and setting the edge. The end opposite Hutch is generally Paschal playing the 5 technique. I don't think we've seen much where both ends are lined up outside in the 9 position.
