    • I just posted the latest Inside the Den episode in the Play With Your Granchildren Forum.

Now, to post a 2024 draft simulator link in the Fuck these Fucks thread.
Where are we going; and what's up with this hand basket?

      • I’m expecting at least one of Starling Thomas, Steven Gilmore, and Chase Lucas to make the roster. Particularly with how Emmanuel Moseley’s injury timeline is questionable. Outside CB depth is Cam Sutton, Jerry Jacobs, Will Harris*, and then the others. Harris asterisk because he is a depth swiss army knife for the DBs. The opportunity is there for someone to emerge. I also didn’t realize that Steven Gilmore is Stephon Gilmore’s younger brother. Strong history of success in the family there.

Long ways to go, but it’s great to see promise from the draft class and several UDFAs.

          man this is refreshing
This may be the main reason why I bought into the Campbell/Holmes edition of the Lions more than anything at least since Fontes. In the NFL you better be developing young guys and focusing on that especially on position groups like defensive backs. The churn there is going to happen regardless and it is up to the coach to have young guys ready.

I didn't know that either. How confusing do his parents want that household when they're yelling out names.

                • They do, you still have risks for it though. It doesn't sound that serious from Campbell's comments.

                          "Greatly reduce" doesn't mean "eliminate."

                            • Actually thought this was going towards the Johnson’s joke from Blazing Saddles.

I’m skeptical about BOTH Mims and Green making the roster. Keeping 6 WRs with St. Brown, M Jones, Reynolds, Raymond, Mims, and Green.
The two seem redundant when it comes to the value they bring as a WR. While there’s been reported flashes and some reps with the 1s, I haven’t heard enough to suspect they have both earned a spot. Goes without saying that there’s plenty of time to figure it out and injuries will happen somewhere. Seems like the bubble is crowded at this point.

Meanwhile, sounds like Logan Stenberg is done with the Lions. He had pressure to emerge this season and hasn’t risen up the depth chart.

Wonder who the next sticky practice squad Lions WR will be…. Dylan Drummond or Chase Cota 🤔

I’m sure most of you have watched Inside the Den episode 3, but just in case. Posting below. Fantastic review of the 2023 Lions draft class. My favorite part was the Brian Branch trade/ being drafted section.

Though clearly edited to show everything in the best light possible, couple things I took away ....

                                * I think Holmes has been working on his "man" to sentence ratio. Good progress there. DC has some work to do though, but it sounds genuine coming from him.
                                * Is it weird that I thought Sheila was generally the least cringy person on the calls?
                                * For some reason I get a kick out of Barry Sanders introducing himself. "Hi, I'm Barry". As if anyone doesn't know that.
                                * Barry talking basketball to Gibbs in the car ride is, unfortunately, on brand.
                                * I now believe that the Lions truly had their first 4 picks rated in the 1st round. It does mean their board was quite a bit different than most others. Is their scouting process that much better or are they just trying to be the smartest in room by being different? We shall see.
                                * My favorite pick of the draft is Jack Campbell. I've been wishing for a great LBer for a long time. They've had so many disappointments at this position.
                                * The predraft interviews were ... wild. The coach snatching Campbells notes ... WTF?
                                * Didn't like the Gibbs pick as there's almost zero chance he makes it to a second contract. But there's a good chance he contributes alot and relatively cheaply for a few years. Definite "win now" kinda pick and I don't mind that.
