I almost posted yesterday that I thought the lions should take a flier on this kid. Kind of the same type as chark…big body and a sub 4.4 40.
If this kid can manage 500-600 yards it was a straight steal. We have him under contract this year with Williams on suspension then we get him for his contract year the following.
The JETS are dumb for letting him go as they were a complete shit show with QBs.F#*K OHIO!!!

Originally posted by -Deborah- View PostThe Detroit Lions, who were sitting with 92 players on the active roster, have made a decision regarding their placekicker.
According to NFL Network, the team has decided to part ways with kicker Michael Badgley.
New kicker John Parker Romo acclimated himself well when the team brought him in, showcasing a booming foot during the portion of OTA practices that were open to the media and local reporters.
“The additional year of eligibility was a blessing for me,” Parko Romo explained about his extra year of college eligibility, granted due to the pandemic, via The Gridiron Crew. “It allowed me to be the field goal and kickoff starter from the beginning of the season to the end. It was my only season to show my capabilities as the starting kicker. I didn’t have the start to the season that I had hoped for, but I am grateful for my coaches and teammates by continuing to believe in me and finishing the season as an All-ACC kicker.”
Badgley went 24-for-28 on field goal attempts and even earned Special Teams Player of the Week after in Detroit's Week 13 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last season.
The battle will now come down to Parker Romo and Riley Patterson, who returned to Detroit after a stint with the Jaguars.
Currently, the Lions have 91 players on their roster.

Trinity Benson is a bad comparison…he was an undrafted guy who coaches thought they could make something of.
Mims had the talent to be a 2nd rd pick….and then got stuck with Darnold and the Mormon milf hunter before Rodgers brought in his guys.
This is a low risk transaction…and it doesn’t need to be a home run to be considered a success. If the kid can come in and play chark’s role in the O (which wasn’t extensive), it’s a success in my mind.

Yeah I don’t get the Benson comparison in the least. Yes Mims would have been released but he’d have been claimed long before the Lions would have been able to add him.
From something I’d read is that he liked the fit and wanted to come to Detroit. The Benson trade was one of the worst moves from Holmes and he gave up a 5th for him. I never understood that move and yes it was pure garbage.

I really liked him coming out of college but the JETS were such a shit destination for him. I’m stoked he’s a Lion. I was a bit worried without Williams for the first 6 games but this is fantastic.F#*K OHIO!!!

Maybe we’re not getting Inside the Den this week. I assumed they would aim to crank it out prior to training camp practice news starting on Sunday or Monday.
…
I forgot that the Lions have kept 4 RBs on their initial 53 in Holmes first two seasons as GM. So I guess Jefferson, Ibrahim, or Bell have a legit shot at making the roster based on history.

It's too bad that it appears that Zylstra is going to get squeezed out. He was a good story last year.
I have to think Mims is going to have a pretty good shot at making the roster. He is talented. I *think* he may have been a victim of bad QB play and a conflict with the new coach.
I guess we shall see.I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on

While it is true that shitty QB play and poor scheme can make a WR look worse than they really are; even with shit teams, players are generally benched and buried in the depth chart for a reason, and those reasons tend to be valid.
It's certainly possible that Mims finds something in a new setting, but I wouldn't get our hopes up.

I just read a tweet about Mims that I'm going to paraphrase:
Here's the issue with Chris Mims: In a game last year in the 4th quarter with the team down by 6, from the 10 yard line the QB threw to a wide-open Mims 3 times in a row...each time the ball sailed 5 yards out/over of Mims' reach.
The moral of the story is that Zach Wilson is a bad QBLast edited by Nick Pappageorgio; July 21, 2023, 11:03 AM.
