The Lions are swapping late round picks in 2025 to the New York Jets for Denzel Mims
With training camp just days away, the Detroit Lions have traded for Denzel Mims, adding some size and speed to the wide receiver group.
It's a good "low cost" trade for a guy who might still have some untapped potential.

Still remember watching that undefeated Matt Rhule led Baylor vs Oklahoma game a few years ago. Mims balled out and caught my attention. Obviously hasn’t done much at all in the NFL, but such a low cost to give Mims one last shot. That WR5 spot on opening day is available for any takers that truly earn it.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill

Any details about the conditional part of the trade yet?
Yeah… some poor man’s Chark vibes here.
It’s the classic sports move to take a low risk on a player drafted highly. Perceived to have some talent there based on draft expectations. Sometimes it works out like Charles Harris in 2021. It doesn’t work most of the time. Low cost, so who cares if Mims doesn’t make the roster. It’s only a $1.7M/ 1 year cap hit. The depth and competition is now a little stronger.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill

It's such a low cost flyer that Holmes's might have been an idiot not to take a shot.

The Detroit Lions, who were sitting with 92 players on the active roster, have made a decision regarding their placekicker.
According to NFL Network, the team has decided to part ways with kicker Michael Badgley.
New kicker John Parker Romo acclimated himself well when the team brought him in, showcasing a booming foot during the portion of OTA practices that were open to the media and local reporters.
“The additional year of eligibility was a blessing for me,” Parko Romo explained about his extra year of college eligibility, granted due to the pandemic, via The Gridiron Crew. “It allowed me to be the field goal and kickoff starter from the beginning of the season to the end. It was my only season to show my capabilities as the starting kicker. I didn’t have the start to the season that I had hoped for, but I am grateful for my coaches and teammates by continuing to believe in me and finishing the season as an All-ACC kicker.”
Badgley went 24-for-28 on field goal attempts and even earned Special Teams Player of the Week after in Detroit's Week 13 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last season.
The battle will now come down to Parker Romo and Riley Patterson, who returned to Detroit after a stint with the Jaguars.
Currently, the Lions have 91 players on their roster.
