  • I dunno. There is a bad aura around Jameson. I didn't care too much about the draft day drama, but its out there. The first red flag for me was the total inability to integrate him into the offense. Which I was also ready to ignore until the odd post season comments from both the OC and GM. Then there's some questionable social media behavior. And now this. Any one of these things, even the suspension, can be - not dismissed - but attributed to youthful vanity. Taken as whole, its a pattern of immaturity which sometimes reaches destructive levels. I hope he gets it together.

    • There is no benefit to trading him or releasing him. None.

Agree. Lets just hope it doesn't have to reach the "significant emotional event" that it needed to - to get Chris Carter's attention.
Drafting teams only have one shot at a guy like that - there is no "going back" - at least while they are in their prime - which is the whole reason you drafted him in the first place. To leverage his prime.

Yep, if you draft Bijan, you put Swift in situations where he has chances for the home run. In space. I might even consider him as a returner. He could be electric there. He would not get many carries behind Bijan and Montgomery if both are healthy.h
2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. Coleman QB 7b) Kewshan Martin WR

I'm not talking about benefit. If you draft Bijan then Swift never sees the field unless something catastrophic happens to Bijan - or you are simply "killing off the game".
The thought about using him as a WR? That is Madden shit.
Bijan is projected to be both a better runner and receiver than Swift - so why on earth would anyone line up a 2nd RB in a WR position when he's not really an asset at that UNLESS he's lined up as the RB - and he won't be. He's no Alvin Camara.....

Wanted to emphasize this. Bijan would be a day 2 pick if he was only a receiver. Elite receiving skills.

              • Swift has home run ability. The question is if Swift is a better option at WR than say forum favorite Tom Kennedy. It is something worth exploring.

I'm talking about benefit and there is no benefit to cutting him or trading him if you draft Robinson. No benefit, you save one million dollars. That's not enough.

                  • Swift becomes RB3 and gets the Justin Jackson carries. Then he moves on in the offseason. Unless some team comes calling with like a 4th round pick, no reason to cut bait just because he’s 3rd in the depth chart.

If you draft Bijan, you can NEVER re-sign Swift, no matter what you do with him in 2023.
So you either keep him as an insurance policy, or you leverage him in a trade to a team where you can actually get a return on your investment.
Because from 2024 onwards, Bijan will be the Lions starting RB - it's what you spent a 1st Rd pick to acquire.

Swift's value is in a trade if you draft Bijan, not as an insurance policy (of which he'd be the 2nd insurance policy I might add).

                      • If they draft Bijan - and I hope they do, regardless of the Williams drama - keep Swift. It't not worth the 5th or 6th rounder they'd get. He'll still help you some this year.

Could do some interesting stuff with Bijan and Swift either split or with one lined up in the slot. That's not why you keep him, but it would be some fun Madden shit for Ben Johnson to play with.

                        • I'm not saying you shop him, but at some point there are 31 other teams in the league that see a depth chart of:
                          Bijan
                          Montgomery
                          Swift

Swift is in his last year of his deal to boot. He has far, far, far more value to the team in a trade than 3rd on a depth chart.
You will get calls. And you will get them on draft day once you draft Bijan.

                          • You might get a 6th round pick at best. This is Swift's last year in Detroit regardless of whether they draft Robinson.

Seems I remember Antonio Brown was a 6th rd pick.....
Seems I remember Jason Kelse's brother was a 6th rd pick - and has been the anchor for the Eagles O-line for the last dozen years.

Something is always better than nothing - just might not be what you want it to be but it's something.
A piece in a trade or a player you can use.

                              • No he might be useful, injuries happen. No benefit to trading him or waiving him. I said 6th round at best.
