Was watching Tom Grossi's PSA about this and in the comments someone brought up a couple good points. On as far a Jamo is concerned (I don't know if the others were more egregious) he got penalized half of what Watkins got for sexual assaulting 20+ women, for being on the wrong side of the Allen Park entrance when he did his non-football gambling. More than any performance enhancers get for their first positive.

And with all the American professional sports leagues in bed with gambling openly nowadays, I'm surprised that something like this isn't happening on a daily occurrence.F#*K OHIO!!!

At draft time last year, the Lions needed a speedy receiver so badly that they traded up to pick Williams at # 12.
Since then they have lost Chalk.
One of two things is going to happen with Williams. Either he becomes a pro receiver or he does not. Either way, the Lions need to replace Chalk.
I think the Lions have to appeal the punishment as too harsh since he was not gambling on NFL games.F#*K OHIO!!!

Jameson Williams takes “full responsibility” for his suspension

Lions receiver Jameson Williams will serve a six-game suspension to start the 2023 season, for violating the NFL’s gambling policy. And he acknowledges that he did indeed violate the NFL’s gambling policy.
“Alliance Sports confirms that its client, Jameson Williams, has been suspended by the NFL for six games for violating the NFL’s gambling policy,” Williams’s agency said in a press release issued on Friday. “Jameson takes full responsibility for his actions and is very apologetic to the NFL, his teammates and the fans and city of Detroit. However, it is important to note that Jameson’s violation was not for betting on football but rather due to a technical rule regarding the actual location in which the online bet was placed — and which would otherwise be allowed by the NFL outside of the club’s facility. Jameson would never intentionally jeopardize the integrity of the game he loves so much and looks forward to getting back to his team as soon as possible.”
Williams was suspended for betting on non-NFL events from an NFL facility. Players are allowed to bet on non-NFL sports.
If Williams had been on NFL games, he would have been suspended for at least a full year.
Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

My error, Ridley bet on NFL games. At least Jamo didn't do that...
Lions: Jameson Williams, Stanley Berryhill bet on non-NFL games from NFL facility

Lions receiver Quintez Cephus and safety C.J. Moore, who were suspended for at least a year and then cut by the Lions, bet on NFL games, according to the team.
Lions receivers Jameson Williams and Stanley Berryhill received six-game suspensions for, per the Lions, “betting from an NFL facility on non-NFL games.”
The league also has officially announced the suspensions. For Williams and Berryhill, they’ll be permitted to participate in offseason workouts, training camp, and the preseason. The six-game suspensions begin with the roster reductions to 53.
It’s unclear when the violations occurred. It presumably happened after receiver Calvin Ridley received a one-year suspension in 2021, since Williams wasn’t in the league until 2022.
Which raises an important question. What kind of instructions are the Lions providing to players about the fairly clear and bright lines about betting? Either the Lions failed to send the message, or the message failed to take.
As to four different players.

“As a result of an NFL investigation, it came to our attention that a few of our players had violated the league’s gambling policy,” General Manager Brad Holmes said in a statement. “These players exhibited decision making that is not consistent with our organizational values and violates league rules. We have made the decision to part ways with Quintez and C.J. immediately. We are disappointed by the decision making demonstrated by Stanley and Jameson and will work with both players to ensure they understand the severity of these violations and have clarity on the league rules moving forward.”Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. Jamo no longer having a penny of guaranteed money is huge. He has a ton to lose if he doesn’t devote himself to being a professional.
I just saw this in the Mlive story about him: “With all the hoopla around Williams’ highly anticipated debut down the stretch last season, it was easy to miss just how raw he actually looked. He dropped footballs all over the practice field, and finished the season with more drops (three) than catches (one). …”
Am I the only one who doesn’t remember seeing anything about drops in practice last year?
