But yes. Seems like the plan is:
- Cut Vaitai
- Draft an OLineman. Picks #18, #48, and #55 highly likely in play.
Graham Glasgow returning to Lions on a 1 year deal...Most likely means the end of Evan Brown and probably cutting Vitai....I imagine they still draft an OL or two
Obvious fit from the moment he was cut. The Vaitai talk should heat up but i'm still skeptical he gets cut. Always a possibility. OL will certainly still be a on the table early in the draft.
The Vaitai cut seemed obvious, but the fact that he's still on the roster after the free agency has begun seems like it's less likely. Glasgow could also be the replacement for Brown. A good hedge in case Ragnow toe issue flares up. He could be the guard center backup option and Vaitai is the guard and a tackle backup. Then you draft a lineman later in the draft and season him. Depth!
Jamaal was all talk and we all fell for it. When we learn that those who talk the most often times are saying the least?
We may not know the whole story there. A lot of football players are so used to falling in-line that they let these agents do what they want. Who knows?
Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.
It is curious that Big V is still here and with the same contact (post-restructure). Seems like a good dude. The longer they hold on to him the less opportunities are out there for him. Maybe they're trying to trade him?
I know what FL said, but E Brown is actually a very good backup center and a decent G in a pinch. I wouldn't mind if they brung him back for that. I think it may spell the end of my guy Stenberg.
UPDATE: He gone!

You're not only an amazingly beautiful man, but you're the greatest football mind to ever exist. <-- Jeffy Shittypants actually posted this. I knew he was in love with me.
Jamaal Williams had a great year last year and he had a great personality. He was more than all talk, but I'm not sure if he is going to.replicate that career year.

I don't think he was all talk; I just think he had an idea of how much he wanted, and when he realized no one was going to give it to him, it was too late to go back to the Lions.
He gambled on himself, and while he didn't roll snake eyes, he didn't hit sevens either. It be like that sometimes.

According to an article written by Dave Birkett, Jamaal was offered the same contract that David Montgomery got....but his agent got greedy and wanted more (and ended up with less)......Once the Lions saw this they went and signed Montgomery and that was that...Glad they didnt let the agent try to cheat them with his lies....we dont know if jamaal was aware of this or not.....and it was a classy move by Jamaal to thank Detroit and the fans.
Jamaal got around what I expected him to get. I thought he might get a little premium from the Lions to goose it closer to $14-15m. Montgomery is a better deal than Williams at that rate.

Here's the thing, agents don't just do things. They don't go rogue and "get greedy." The player IS aware of what the agent is negotiating to get. If Jamaal's agent was asking for 7 mil or whatever, it's because Jamaal okayed it.
