    • Thanks Top - expensive, but should be worth it.

What setup are you coming from?

        Comment

        • Asus P5K Deluxe Motherboard
          Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 Yorkfield 2.5GHz
          CORSAIR DOMINATOR DDR2 8GB (4 x 2GB)
          Thermaltake Toughpower W0172RU 850W
          EVGA 640-P2-N829-AR GeForce 8800GTS

Had 6 SATA drives in the old box as was using PATA for optical drives, which represented a challenge as I had planned on migrating over four 1 TB drives, but everything in the new box is now SATA so only had enough ports for 3 drives, as SSD, Blu-ray burner, and external SSD connector took 3 of the motherboard ports.

Think I will probably get an add on SATA controller so I can add more down the line.

OR my other option (pricey) would be to add two SAS drives - new board supports two....

              • Aren't there cases that have improved cable routing for better, unimpeded air flow?

A little bit but the L10GT is actually pretty decent in terms of wiring options, and the main cabin is pretty well cooled. But what its goal is really about is being stylish.

They basically took the BMW designed $700 L10, and made it more enthusiast friendly while still having the same look and did it all while chopping half the price off of it.

I like the idea of a more open workspace with decent grommets to hide cases in the rear, like the HAF X, Cosmos II, 700D, and 800D. But I don't think there is anything really missing from the GT.

Edit: As a side comment. Looking back through the pictures. Coop was just being lazy, you can see the grommets he was supposed to run the cables through.

                  • I have a WNDy pc case. It's a Japanese maker that make all aluminum cases. The one I have is a sweet all-black case with lots and lots of fans...unfortunately, my last graphics card was too big to fit, so I had to take out a couple of the fans...still hasn't had any impact on performance though.

WiNDy makes great enthusiast cases. Only downside is they are so impossible to get in the US, that its costs almost double what they should when you do find them. Making something like a Lian-Li or the TJ series Silverstone cases a better buy.

                      • Top - actually that pic was not final - however cable lengths in some cases did not allow routing grommet routing - especiially from PSU.

Nope, calling it now. Sure you might think you will go in there and change up the cabling, but you won't. In a year you will look back in the case, maybe to add a part, and think to yourself, "Man I really planned on fixing those wires, oh well machine is running great".

It was too expensive here as well. The next time I get a case, I'll probably go a different route. They're great but probably not worth the extra money.

                              • HELP!

OK, I downloaded some portal development software called LifeRay. Pretty cool, I guess, but everytime I start Tomcat on my laptop the packaged LifeRay website comes up on localhost:8080. Can someone explain to me what steps are taken during the Tomcat startup process? All I really want to do is put a "Hello World" app on localhost:8080.

I guess I just don't understand what happens when Tomcat starts up.
