so I was able to find a pci-x to pci-e riser card that would allow me to install a USB 3.0 controller with a port for the internal connector from the case. Is it worth $160 - but do I really need it when the case has E-SATA too?Got Kneecaps?

What case did you get?
I was just wondering above. Started collecting parts to finish a PC in May. Got a X79 LGA2011 motherboard and now a 256GB Crucial M4 SSD. Going to piece meal it together.
So it threw me off when you said 6 core, with 12 GB as in a 2011 it would be 16GB.

As for how it works for dictation on a desktop. I have no idea. People of sworn by it, but the one time (5 years ago), I set it up on a users computer, I gave it a couple of test runs and hated it.

For cases and power supplies - I have been partial to Thermaltake. Current build is housed in an Xaser III
Bought this one for the new build:

I am looking at a HAF X, or depending on pricing at time of purchase the Cosmos II.
Anyways so is the Xaser the one with issues for the cooler (and which cooler?)? Or is it the GT?

Top - Xaser is my current build, got the Level 10 GT for the new rig. It's actually very easy to work in, absolutely no complaints there.
Issue with cooler is that I already bolted down the motherboard before reading the install instructions for the cooler - bracket and screws fit under it, so has to come back out.Got Kneecaps?

Update - got everything assembled. Spent most of late Saturday afternoon and early Sunday morning after kids got us up at 6a finishing the build. Fired it up for the first time around noon Sunday and no issues. One of the really cool features of the case is that it has a hot swappable backplane, something I had previously only seen in server chassis. Minimizes the amount of cabling which is a real plus.
After opening the processor box, I'm wondering if I really needed to buy the aftermarket cooler - this is the first Intel sink that I think wouldn't have needed an upgrade. A bit of a trick getting the plate mounted - but I do like how it has screws that lock it down nice and tight, no more plastic clips.
Really liking the SSD. Boots up fully in just over a minute. Now have to get all my stuff reinstalled - so far I'm liking it alot, it was one of my most challenging builds.Got Kneecaps?
