Why have separate storage? Just stream your home iTunes library remotely to your iPhone, there are several apps available. I drive a 10 year old Accord with an aftermarket adapter/iPhone dock that charges while you are listening, works great with the GPS app too.

Sure that's true. But there are work arounds for the cloud applications that use enough data to run into that problem. And that problem is tempurary.

Spotify for example has an offline mode which basically allows you to DL any song you want and have that playlist ready to go always (without the need to stream it each time you listen). And synced with every device you have Spotify on. And it basically does it all for you.. all you do is make your playlists out of any songs/albums you can think of.

If Spotify was a publicly traded stock I would be buying in bulk.

There's the downside Coop, luckily I'm grandfathered into the ATT unlimited iPhone data rate

And BTW, no iPod's for me anyway. I don't care for Apple stuff.

SLF, ideally the car stereo would have a wireless card in it, so when your car's in the garage you can move music over to it from your PC.

See, the portable device just adds clutter. It needs its own power source. It needs to connect to the car stereo, or at least bluetooth. Most of my music library is older stuff. The rate at which I'd be adding songs doesn't make it a big deal to copy it over to the vehicle.

I held out for years. I wasted a lot of time. They are simply the best. It's like saying you won't use a computer with Windows. You can do it but they are so enmeshed in the market you're only screwing yourself. Plus itunes is pretty damned convenient to use.

Note. I only have given in on MP3 players. I still don't buy the iPad, Mac Air, or iPhone.

Mobile for me. But it doesn't really matter. It's all about to be cloud based anyhow.

Man, I actually did try iTunes once on my PC, and it was an absolute nightmare. I can't remember exactly why I was trying it - I think it was because there was a lecture or a video that I wanted, and (somehow) iTunes was the only place I could get it, or it was offered free, or something.

I could NOT make that POS work....navigation sucked...it was just horrible.

Another reason I've avoided the iPods has to do with the copyright BS, and the problems with using mp3's and all. I dunno if some of that is old news or not by now...

iTunes for the PC was wretched for years. It was so bad I thought it might have been on purpose to get people to blame the PC.

It was within 6 months ago that I had my iTunes moment. And whatever it was that I wanted to see or hear, I really wanted to see or hear it, because I put a LOT more time into that app than I could imagine.

Yeah I tried Itunes and decided very quickly that it was too much work. My mp3 player you just drag the songs to device and it plays.

I also hate iTunes. It has duplicated my songs about three or four times now and there's no easy way to clean that up.
