part of it's my own fault. Phone was jailbroken and unlocked on 4.0.1 and I tried to do a reset of the phone to clear the content, after which it would not boot. Thought my shsh hashes were on file with Cydia and found out the hard way that hey were not which forced me into 4.1 to get it working again.

Lesson learned - first phone I have touched in 2 years of jailbreaking that I have had any issue with....

Luckily the jailbreak for 4.1 is imminent and the carrier unlock if not released with it should follow suit. Still running normal on my 3gs until then.....

HTPC is built and running. Took me about 3/4 of a day to get it built and running. Biggest issue was finding a Windows 7 driver for an older external Creative labs sound card that has optical audio to preserve the dolby digital processing via my older denon receiver, luckily there was a beta that works great!

Only oops moment was fitting it into the entertainment cabinet - it was almost too small and although the exhaust fans are right next to wood, it's running fine. Nice to have Blu Ray, Windows Media center, Hulu, and Netflix all on my plasma.

Sounds cool but I have questions

Doesn't Hulu have a monthly expense? As well as Netflix?

Isn't the real purpose to build something like that so you can get rid of cable/Satellite expenses? Pay less to Hulu and Netflix to have access to all the shows you need to see (besides premium sport events).

What's the point of paying for cable/satellite plus those other premium sites other than to show off your massive earning potential?

Most of the stuff on Hulu is free, there is a Plus feature that's $10 a month but you can use the free side. There's lots of movies in addition to television shows.

10 bucks a month for netflix is a pretty good deal, even if you have cable or satellite.

was in a meeting and I had a drive fail in a critical server this afternoon and am at the office running some emergency backups.

Hulu was entirely free, however they have a pay for model now "Hulu plus" that gives you more content and more back episodes. I haven't felt the need to pay for that yet.

I have been netflixing since 2004 and they have added selective streaming of some content and I did upgrade the rental package to get blu ray so I can rent those too.

I can give back the charter box right now ( and will ) to save $10 per month. I am toying with the idea of eliminating cable but during the football season I won't. I can pickup clear QAM channels without paying, we'll see.

At some point, I want to get off the pay for grid too. That's why I asked you before about that Boxbee gizmo.

I have used Netflix several times over the years and as recently as 3 months ago when I let another 2 mos run end (using blu-ray disc as my primary rentals) and doing a lot of streaming through my Sony PS3.

I thought Hulu was only useful for our needs if we did the pay option (could use it through my PS3) so we haven't.

Sounds like you're pretty handy in putting that kind of electronic stuff together. There could be a small, nice side cash biz for you right there.

-G- aside from IT being my career, I've always enjoyed building my own computer equipment.

I'm now able to backup Blu Ray to my hard drive as well..might have to add a 2nd terabyte drive for media storage. Blu Ray media is getting cheaper though..

In other news

Greenpois0n and LimeRa1n are released ! Jailbroke the Iphone 4 @ 4.1. Now need Apple to release 4.2 so that the baseband unlock can occur and I can get it running on tmobile.

no what is really pissing me off,,,, I have a workstation laptop with a dream color screen and I upgrade that notebook to win 7 finally. Can't get the color matching drivers for the dreamcolor screen without ordering fucking "app" dvd update.... ARGHHH $1500.00 for the a 1080p dreamcolor screen and I can't download the drivers..... I hate this shit sometimes.

My old PC has the "blue screen of death". My wife was copy pictures to a CD and answered yes to formatting the CD then a blue screen showed up with an error message that sad Bad Pool. Now we can only boot up in safe mode or we get that error. In safe mode we tried unistalling the CD drive and also a system restore, but we still keep getting the error

Any thoughts.
