  • Negative impact of buying a high end D-SLR?

Working on my current computer with 12 megapixel-RAW or .NEF files apparently requires a lot more computing power than my pre-Dual Core existing laptop.

Now I have to consider buying another 'puter.

    Dang it...

I can imagine. Those are some mega files to be working with.

      • Deb - sorry for the late response. I did get the Sirius app and ended up shelling out the extra $3 per month for the "premium" internet subscription

I have cables to connect my Touch to my home theater receiver so I can listen to Pandora or Sirius through my receiver. It works great! But it drains the battery super fast. Is there such a thing as like a charging dock that can be hooked up to a receiver?

            • cheapest option would probably be to get the AC adapter that plugs into the USB end of the ipoT cable.

              • Not sure I follow you, Coop. The cable I have goes from the Touch to the home theater receiver, without any usb cable.

Before these cool units came out that could be charged with a USB cable and computer, we used to charge things with an AC to DC adapter. If there is a way to connect one of those antique adapters and run your cables to the receiver at the same time, you could use your house power rather than your unit's battery.

                  • I see. The problem is, I think, that the unit attaches to the cables in this case via the docking port, which is also the place that is used when charging.

                    • Yeah, it charges and outputs from the same point. That's why you were asking about a docking port.

                      • Deb-
I don't know anything about home receivers. But they do make "docking stations" with incorporated speakers/radio. That's what I use most times. I'm guessing that doesn't help.

There must be something though, especially with the ever advancing video capabilities...

                        • Yeah, I kinda like to have the receiver on and have it boom through the house.

You'd think this wouldn't be such an odd request. I did call Apple though and the "genius" I spoke with didn't have any idea if such a thing existed.

                          • Deb, the Touch has two connections. One for your ear phones and one to dock and get downloads/recharge. If you are communicating with your receiver via a cable that uses the ear phone port, you have the other cable left and you can put the USB end of it into a plug that goes into the wall for charging.

                            • Thanks, Bim. I had been avoiding that method so I could control the volume and such via the receiver but maybe that's the better way to go after all.

It connects to your reciever via the docking port and doesn't exchange any power? That's wierd. Didn't think they made anything like that. Apple has an av/docking port kit where the av cables connect through the earphone jack so the docking port is free for charging.

You might be able to find the cable seperately for cheaper, and just charge your ipod the way you do now.
