  • Frank,

I have an LG "V" and love the way it pops open for texting. It takes ok pics and vids as well. I couldn't tell if any of your options are like my LG, but I have had no trouble out of mine and you can txt either from the keyboard, or if you are going 75 MPH on a cycle, from the phone keypad.

    • Thanks bimmer, I'm glad to know that I can still txt while going 75mph on a bicycle.

      • "you ought to try texting on a motorcycle do 75MPH - it is a little bit easier with a phone keypad."
        --------------------------------------That is incredibly stupid.

        • I got a treo for work. It is pretty cool although I refuse to use text shorthand. I'm sure that it does more shit than I will ever be able to figure out, but I like it. They have linked it to my work e-mail so I can keep tabs on what is going on from home or on the road. I don't know how they allow a connection without compromising security, but I really don't care...

                • Great subject Frank!

Our AT&T/Cingular contract is about redy to expire at the end of the month and we're sorely tempted to switch providers due to getting screwed out of our rollover minutes from our 2 moves (they say it's because when we got local numbers in Michigan & California, it essentially shows up as a new activation). So we're looking at phones and rate plans right now with other providers.

Let me know which phone you get.

                  • I have T-mobile and a RZR, and it isn't pink. T-Mobile has a few color including gray and chrome. I got to say though that my RZR started on the fritz one week after the warrenty expired. I think I going to get a blackberry next.

                    • The only thing missing from that Marvin Jones touchdown reversal is that it wasn't a first round playoff game.

                      • Alright, I am thinking of getting another computer for the girls so I will be able to get online more often. I have read about vista ( mostly in this thread ) and am considering going in that direction. The geeks at Best Buy are telling me my XP windows will be pretty much obsolute within 6 months or so, I probably will set up my present computer for the girls so they can check their My Space every 30 seconds or so per kid (3) and then fight over how long it takes each to check for messages. Gets rather distracting when the Lions/Wings/Tigers/Pistons are on. Anyway, Deb, I know you have been running VISTA for quiite some time, still in love with it? Does VISTA ULTIMATE FULL = VISTA PREMIUM? What's available in firewalls? Any help will be appreciated by a non-geek old guy. Remember, I grew up before color TV was invented.:-)

                        • I haven't used Vista yet - in fact, based on a lot of stuff I've read and heard, I was planning on buying my next PC with XP. I'd love to hear what the flunkies at Best Buy say to justify their statement that XP will be obsolete in 6 months.

                          • Yeah, I wondered about that as well. Microsoft has worked a nice little marketing gimmimck.

"You're last chance to get a PC with XP!"

Oh wait, we're extending support for it.

I've been running Vista for a while on my work laptop. Relative to XP, I didn't have a strong feeling for or against it until I got a new PC for the family to share with Vista. IMO Vista really hits the sweet spot for a shared family PC.

One thing to keep in mind though - there is a slight risk that one or more of your hardware peripherals will not work with Vista. For example, I had to ditch a Wireless USB adapter because the manufacturer did not supply updated Vista drivers.

Full disclosure - I work for MS.

                              • My wife and I both have new laptops with vista and I don't have any hate for it. It seems to me that the biggest problem is that it is just another system to learn. How do I "save as"? How do I move a file from one place to another? Where the hell did that go, etc etc?

Of course, I don't use it for much but e-mail and the web, but it sounds as if that is what you are looking at anyway, I doubt it will bother you too much. (just don't load those goddamn RSS feeds when you load Outlook...;))
