Edit: This is cheaper than an Apple product but you will want to check to make sure the output voltage is correct for your Touch...5 volts DC.

wouldn't you still have control of the volume either way?

      • One is via the receiver, the other is via the volume on the Touch.

But as long as the signal is going through to reciever to the speakers, doesn't the reciever have ultimate control of the volume? Just don't understand why they way the signal comes from the ipod matters. I've had the docking part of portable speaker blow on me and was able to use the earphone jack. the speaker still had volume control...as long as the volume was on on the ipod.

          • Oh, yeah it has ultimate control but if you have the volume down to zero on the Touch, turning up the volume on the receiver won't do anything.

            • The ads for the new iPhone make it look pretty bad ass. I can't imagine being able to edit video on that little thing!

You'd think this wouldn't be such an odd request. I did call Apple though and the "genius" I spoke with didn't have any idea if such a thing existed.
I have a product like what you're looking for that works with my old iPod Nano.

Here's a similar product that works for the iPhone or iPod touch, and lets you output audio and video, while charging the unit at the same time.

                    • I believe that product would have a similar problem with the newer Touch. But you got me searching again and I think I might have found a solution:

When using the above dock, the iPhone or iPod Touch connects via its docking port. The headphone jack is not used. You can then plug the dock's outputs for audio or video into anything you want (like your receiver). In the meantime, the dock recharges the iPod/iPhone.

I don't know if it would work when the unit is using your WiFi, but I don't see why not.

And the remote is very nice to have.

                        • You didn't misunderstand except that the product you showed likely has the same problem: It doesn't charge the Touch 2G.

Also, I wouldn't want to buy an international item without knowing for sure it worked with the 2G version and without knowing whether a special power adapter would be needed as well.

A dock would be nice, but since I've looked everywhere and there isn't one that charges my Touch while hooked up to the receiver, I think this adapter thing will work well.
