My 20-inch monitor developed a shadow issue so I was in the market for a new one. Went to Dell's site and found a nice 23-inch model. Then looked around and found it here for $100 less and shipping was $3. It arrived yesterday and is just beautiful!!!

    • Good for you, Top.

Bill, I don't get commission on my own orders placed through Amazon.

I am just saying that the on front page value dell puts on that usually isn't the true price that they are selling it for. The best thing to do is set up a small business account (I don't think you actually have to have a business). Instantly you get a substantial discount without any kind of volume discounting.

Though I guess it doesn't matter anymore because you have the monitor. Just saying in the future if your looking at them for anything, you might want to keep that in mind.

        • Yeah I had already researched my discount possibilities with Dell and the price was still higher for me than the other site.

While flipping through a Money magazine, I ran across a often-repeated piece of advice about buying an HDTV: that the size of the TV you should buy is determined by how far you plan on sitting from it, not just bigger is better:

Which always makes me beg the question - why not just put your couch closer to your TV? You could buy a much smaller set and save hundreds of dollars. I guess it?s just another by-product of buying a house that?s too big. You need more furniture to fill it, and now also a bigger TV to see from across the room.

In addition, doctors now say that sitting too close to the TV is not bad for your eyes. Well, I guess it can?t be worse than most of us sitting inches away from an LCD screen all day long already.
Thanks Deb! I still haven't taken the plunge. I can't bring myself to do it yet as I have a perfectly functioning TV though I do know I'm missing out on the awesomeness of HD. Maybe I'll take the plunge soonish.

            • Can anyone recommend a movie download site that doesn't fill up the computer with viruses?

              • You mean an illegal site that's clean?

                No.

                • No Deb, I mean any site....Two sites I tried my web security guard cautioned against using, yet they claim to be 100 per cent legal. I just tried this one this morning after receiving an email with the same result. I am retiscent to venture any further.

                  • Amazon Video On Demand and NetFlix are the only legal ones I'm familiar with.
