  • That's going to import all of your Windows "garbage" along to your new HD though, won't it?

I've been upgrading to a bigger HD every ~3 years these days as a method to start fresh with my windows install and to add storage space. That way, I get rid of all the windows garbage that builds up over time, and I don't have to delete everything I had on the drive. It takes about a full day to start over, though...
The only thing missing from that Marvin Jones touchdown reversal is that it wasn't a first round playoff game.

    • Yeah I wasn't up for that. My system was pretty clean and I had just installed Visual Studio (which is fricken HUGE and takes forever to install) and didn't want to go through that again.

        • BTW - anyone thinking of going bluray in the near future may want to hold out for this ...

Based in the heart of Silicon Valley, OPPO Digital designs and markets high quality digital electronics that deliver style, performance, innovation, and value to A/V enthusiasts and savvy consumers alike. The company's attention to core product performance and strong customer focus distinguishes it from traditional consumer-electronics brands.

Oppo makes the best upscaling DVD players. Period. This bluray player promises to combine their best DVD upscaling technology with bluray capability that rivals the PS3.

          • I've had my PS3 for 2+ years now while everyone else is still trying to catch up to its ability.

The PS3 also has excellent upscaling ability for my SD DVD's and does many more things as a media center that any old stand alone BR player hopes to achieve.

Wow. Anyways, I really wasn't wanting to buy a new hard drive and start from scratch installing an OS and programs all over again just to get more room. So I looked around and was surprised to find a program that will basically burn your c: drive to a new hard drive, copying everything, and making it bootable. So I bought the program, installed a new 640 gig HD ($79 @ Amazon.com) as a second drive, burned the c: drive to it, took out the original c: drive, put the new drive in its place and booted and I'm in windows with all my programs and settings just as they were, but now with 560 gigs of space free!

              Whee!!!

The program is called Migrate Easy by Acronis, in case anyone else has a similar need.

Yep. Its a shame really. Only since late 2008 have there been stand alone bluray players worth owning IMO.

According to professional reviews, PS3 DVD performance is ok, but not in the same league as Oppo or even some of the old HD-DVD players. Still, as a total package the PS3 is tough to beat.

                • I got a Sony Blu-Ray for christmas ... was shocked when it automatically changed the input on my TV when a CD was loaded.

Hey Deb, what do you think of the new Windows? I haven't tried it (yet) but I hear REALLY good things about it.

Well, I don't think I can give it a full opinion yet. Running it in a virtual machine means I'm not using it (at least not yet) like I would a regular PC. And it's really hard to judge whether slow times are caused by the OS or by the virtual machine sharing RAM with my host OS. That said, I like it so far.

Not nailed down precisely, no. I'm doing a study related to telecommuting, but still working on the angle of it.

I would guess, based on reviews and info I have seen so far, that it is because you are running it via a virtual machine. Everything I have read so far indicates it uses memory more efficiently than Vista.
