  • I'm thinking of breaking down and buying a medium sized LCD TV. Do y'all think the sales will be better now or closer to the super bowl?

    • I'd imagine they will be giving them away at places like Best Buy on Dec. 26...

        • I pulled the trigger last week (work purchase) on a Samsung 52". Dropped from $3000 to $2500 on black Monday...

The HDTV market is hard to predict Rom because its always changing - I'd say now is probably a good time to pull the trigger.

            • I haven't really been shopping them, but it seems to me that the smaller ones are really expensive for their size. In dollars-per-inch, it looks like the 40s and 42s are the most economical.
The only thing missing from that Marvin Jones touchdown reversal is that it wasn't a first round playoff game.

              • I am a big fan of Samsung in that mid-range size Rommy.

                • In a small apartment I'm afraid a 42 inch would be overpowering in my living room. I'm leaning toward a 37 inch. Another thought is to buy a 32 inch and when I buy a house, put it in the bedroom and at that time go big for the living room.

Rommy, my first LCD was a 32 inch LG. I loved it but even though my living room is not big, it seemed small. Particularly when having company over.

I've since moved it to my office and bought a 42 inch LG LCD for the living room. It's perfect for that space.

                      • I think I have a 42 inch in my office. It's about 5 feet from my desk chair. It's big, but the flat screens take up so much less room, it seems like you can go a couple sizes bigger without it seeming too big.

                        • I have a 32 inch in my living room. I sit about 8-10 feet from it. It is plenty big for the space. I can see it from my kitchen and don't wish it was bigger. The only time it seems small to me is when I see other bigger TVs...

                            • I really appreciate y'alls feedback. 37 inches seems the way to go. I've heard at that size the difference between 1080 and 720 isn't discernable. Do y'all agree?

                              • I don't think any HD broadcasts (maybe Directv is the exception?) are above 72op. You would only get 1080p with Blu-Ray. To me, the difference between 720p and 1080p is negligible.
