I text from time to time, it's an easy way to give a short message to someone. People always have their cell phone, even if they don't want to talk. And they may or may not check email.

Excellent point, especially for "carpool? meet you at 7" Plus you can take a text easier with you "Pick up some milk, chicken, broccoli on your way home"
That said, I think I've sent less than 100 texts in total...To be a professional means that you don't die. - Takeru "the Tsunami" Kobayashi

Texting is a slow, cumbersome, inefficient means of communication. And it's very popular. Am I missing something? Is there some kind of "cool" factor that I'm not in on? I don't get it...

I don't text much, but I do usually send out a group text on T-day or Xmas telling everyone I wish themt he best. Calling everyone is not practical and some don't have or check email. Also I text my wife sometimes when I know she can't talk at work.

I text often .... to me it's less obtrusive than bothering someone with a phone call. It's especially effective when you are somewhere where it can be loud and you don't want to yell into a phone etc.
Having said that, it's dangerous for teens. They get addicted and distracted by them. Very dangerous while driving. I know at least two people who've gotten into car accidents becuase they were twd.Forever One!

I have a handful of old harddrives laying around (some IDE drives and a couple SATA drives), does anybody know if there is a way to use them as external harddrives?
Baring that, I like at the very least to find a simple/cheap way to wipe the IDE drives so I can get rid of them.
Any suggestions?"This is an empty signature. Because apparently carrying a quote from anyone in this space means you are obsessed with that person. "

FVD - is that the v3 Razr? I loved that phone but just switched over to tmobile because my Verizon plan simply was not meeting my needs. Tmobile had the razr but only in pink. I ended up going with the Motorola w390 which is slightly slimmer than the razr but has all the functionality, including a mini usb interface for data and charging.
For your situation - It depends on your needs and your phone plan (voice, data). My ipod touch has become my multimedia device so all I use my phone for is calls and some texting and most of the time it's in my pocket as I prefer bluetooth for hands free voice dialing and because I have been prone to dropping my cell phone. I also stick with motorola phones because I love the motorola phone tools application that allows direct connectivity to Outlook for adding contacts.Got Kneecaps?

Coop, Yep, its of the RAZR family.
Music/Video isn't a big priority to me. I have an iPod classic that I use for that... I wouldn't mind a keypad instead of the phone pad for texting... I do have a bluetooth headset also. I only have 450 minutes a month but I have almost 1900 rollover ones. The RAZR's been a decent phone overall but I'd like to try out something different, maybe a bit less popular.Lions free since 6/23/2020
