The reason is built into the Apple business model and can be summed up in one word: Exclusivity.

The Apple model likes to keep control over its products, rather than allow choice for consumers. Coop's complaining that they require him to use AT&T for their phone, while he carries an iPod that locks him into their proprietary music format oozes irony.
The only thing missing from that Marvin Jones touchdown reversal is that it wasn't a first round playoff game.

    • COOP doesn't own an iPhone. He just commented about how they force you to use dreaded AT&T.

      He owns a Razr cellie

      • You missed the irony Gonz:

        - complains about exclusivity of their phone, limiting his choices.
        - owns their music player that uses a proprietary format, limiting his choices.

        • I caught the irony, I misread your post to the point I thought you were saying he owned an iPhone that put him in the same situation.

Just read where hackers were already very close to unlocking the iPhone to all carriers

          • ULF - wrong - I'm not locked to any proprietary format with the ipod. The music you BUY from Apple via Itunes is in an encrypted format, which can be addressed by burning a cd from within Itunes, but Itunes isn't the only method for purchasing music that can be added to an ipod.

Most of what is on my ipod are MP3's (.mp3 files) that are from CD's that I ripped and loaded on it. Note the ipod supports other formats as well including unencrypted AAC and WAV.

There's NO way the ipod would be the success that it is today if Jobs were stupid enough to try and lock down to only encryted formats.......

I don't own an iphone (I have a Razr, switched to Verizon in 2006) and as long as it's only usable via AT&T's network I never will.

            • Mike Wendland from the Freep is the absolute worst when it comes to Apple.

When the video iPod broke, he wrote this huge article saying it was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I sent him an email saying that Archos, Zen Creative, Samsung, etc. have had 2.2", 20GB video/MP3 players out for over 2 years.

The following day he wrote a follow up showing all of these products.

              Talk about having blinders on.

actually Ipod doesn't lock you into a proprietary music format - I think Larsky actually pointed out it supports more formats than its competition.

Thanks Rom, but it isn't really by choice. The top is getting thin so I figured it was time. No old school comb over for me.

I actually like it more then I thought I would because it has been over 100 lately and I have to swim alot to stay cool. Love getting out of the pool and having no hair to fix. Swam all day yesterday and they just changed cloths for a night party at the neighbors. Getting ready took all of 2 mins.

                    • I recently trimmed my hair off as well and really like the fact it's easy to care for and you don't have to worry about bed head or hat hair. I've been told by a few people I should grow it back. One guy said it makes me look 10 years older. Fortunately I have hair that will grow back.

                      • I'm in DanO's situation - Been shaving it down for a few years because of a gradually receding line. I tried to grow it back ONCE and it didn't work out. Now it's a 000 blade for me.

                        • I've been doing the Matt Lauer haircut for over 3 years now. Its just much easier to maintain but its really just a matter of convenience since I don't want to pay $50 for a haircut and I won't pay $20 to some goober in your run of the mill Supercuts type place to use shears to try and give me a hairstyle because they don't know how to use scissors very well.

I get a quick #3 all around for $6.50 + $2 tip and I'm out of the chair in about 10 minutes from an old friend who has run a barber shop in Tustin forever.

                            • You can do the #3 for free at home.

I'm doing a #3 now as well, but I think I'm going to go down to a #2.

I would love to have the option to grow it long and boufant it up like Elvis, but that's not the case. Shaving it make it look better then a combover and I don't really think I would ever consider a transplant.

Also, dano, fuck what other say. Do it how you like it. My Dad has been complaining since I cut mine. He told me that others would think I was more attractive if I had a transplant and that hair would get me better jobs. Funny thing is that I work for him and he wants me to take it over someday. However, my Dad is from the comover generation and still thinks of a shaved head as a skinhead. I told him that "it doesn't matter what people think of me, its all about what I think of myself." He shut up alittle after that.

I wish that look worked for women. Another case where men have the advantage...sigh.
