Like a good friend who has now gone the way of all things said, " you never see a Brinks truck at a funeral."

Grats on the cool toys. Let me know how the Slingbox works out. I've come close to buying one several times over the last year but don't need another distraction at work...LOL.

              • The GPS thing has been wonderful. Didn't even look at a map when I hit Nashville yesterday. Just entered the address for my hotel and it guided me there. Neato!!

                • Which one did you buy Deb? I had a portable GPS that I used for geo-caching, and it connected to my laptop for use in my car, but I recently bought a TomTom and it is great for door to door navigation....but like all of them it sometimes takes you in a strange direction to your final destination.

                  • That's the one I got. It is probably similar to your TomTom. So far I haven't noticed any strange routes. The one you use for Geo Caching...does it have detailed off-road maps? I couldn't imagine using mine in that manner, considering the maps it has...

Yep, your looks very similar to my TomTom. I think TomTom was a British iproduct originally because it refers to interstates as "motorways". You can download different voices. Right now I have Mr. T loaded so I get the "Turn right you fool!" type of helpful verbal instruction.

I could not use TomTom for geocaching because it does not have a way to enter lattitudinal/longitudinal coordinates. With my Garmin I just enter the exact lat/long and it navigates to that location by compass needle (bearing) and distance (as the crow flys). The maps are not really any more detailed than TomTom, so I just get as close the the cache site as I can via the nearest road and then hoof it to the cache using the compass needle...if that makes any sense.

Thanks for the info on geocaching with your GPS. I don't think I would be able to use mine for that either.
