  • It destroyed Divx as a platform too.

    • I'm so grateful we have a porn industry insider on the Forum to enlighten us.

DivX destroyed itself by being a bad business model. Most people just didn't want to buy DVDs that became useless after a few viewings.

What are you complaining about? I said I was grateful.

By the way, is it true you can actually get porn in the internet? I read that recently....

              • I will get a PS3 someday but I want to wait until they include the 1.3 HDMI standard on all models (which I think is now) and also add the ability to play music CD's which according to my understanding the unit does not do at the moment.

IIRC, the PS3 currently does not up-convert old DVD's either.

They need to include these issues in the next version update.

I remember reading somewhere that the reason the porn industry is going HD DVD is because Sony won't release any blue ray porn disks. I guess there are no third party producers of blue ray disks, so Sony has a strangle hold on what gets released on their format.

                  • And there you go. The most open format will always win over the one with proprietary rules all over it.

Except in the case of the IPod. Still trying to figure that one out. ;)
The only thing missing from that Marvin Jones touchdown reversal is that it wasn't a first round playoff game.

                    • I think the IPod is a long way from having "won" the MP3 player market.

                      • I don't think so, its been won. I'll never buy anything Apple but its hard not to notice how much the Ipods dominate.

                        • I was going to asterisk that SLF. I believe the IPod has won in the short term. I think MP3 will still come back and ultimately take over. It's certainly not going away.

                            • Actually it was hard to notice, they didn't dominate the market.

I liked Divx. I think it could have been more sucessful had they sold them in 7/11's or other convience stores. I mean it cost 3.00 to rent a movie, why not 3 to rent and not have to return.
