And that's the cell phones fault, or their manufacturers?

    • Sorry for your loss CG.

I am constantly on my Nextel at work, so when I get home (and am not on-call) I turn it off and leave it off until the next work day. If there are emergencies that I don't have to deal with, they can leave me a message and I'll get it when I turn it on again.

I also have a personal cell that I carry when I go out so my wife can get ahold of me in case of an urgent situation.

      I don't do idle chit-chat. I hate that!

      • I think it's funny when I'm stopped at a traffic light, and as dozens of cars turn left off the cross street onto mine, 9 out of 10 drivers have phones held up to their ears.

        • I've become closer to my brother and sisters because of the cell phone. I call one of them nearly every day now on the way home.

          • a cell phone does allow you to take back some of that lost commute time...... I typically chit chat all the way to work with busy friends whom I would otherwise go weeks without catching up with.

            • I really want to get one of those bluetooth earpieces. Man, will I be cool then. I'll wear it everywhere I go.

I especially want one of those models with the blinking blue light on it. Then people will notice me, and they'll think "man, he must be important!"

Dude, WTF tangent are you running with? I have not once mentioned the manufacturers or the phones themselves as being a peeve of mine. Its the 9 out 10 idiots that YT sees turning left talking on the phone while driving home. Put the F'N phone down for a moment and drive or take a shit. People really can live their life without talking to you for one minute.

                  LOL

Nothing sillier than a rollie pollie of a balding old man running around the golf course with a bluetooth in his ear talking to the Mrs..

                  • In a moot court exercise my first year, one of the "judges" had in a bluetooth earpiece while we were arguing...

Man, I wanted to smack that out of her frickin ear!

                    • It does look silly, but probably much safer and very handy. Don't have one but it would be useful when carrying around the young one.

                      • Google's announced free wireless broadband. Cool system that uses homes plumbing systems:

                        • holy shit ... technology is amazing. To make use of the already installed piping is quite ingenious. My current wireless really stinks. I wonder how the download speed compares.

                          • One of my friends just got a job as one of the PHD's here in the Grand Rapids area. It's paying nearly six figures a year, and the beta testing happened here because Granholm scored the coup by getting Google into Ann Arbor.

                            • Isn't it interesting how Google has a habit of announcing their most cutting edge technologies on April 1?
