  • "Don't like the feel of their phones and hate their optical pickups on their optical disc drives, but outside that Samsung has been pretty exemplary the last few years."
-----------------------------------Haven't tried the phones. Started with the TV and went from there. They are extremely competitive and usually get great reviews. I haven't made any intentional effort to go there but whenever I'm looking for something new they seem to be near the top of the list.

"DanO, aren't they awesome?! One thing with the front loaders is that the gasket can have difficulty drying and get musty-smelling. Good idea to leave the washer door open a day or two after you're done with laundry for this reason."
---------------------Oh ya. I Asolutely love it. Been doing more laundry than I need to do. LOL. Thanks for the tip. I think I actually read that in one of the reviews but forgot about it. BTW, I couldn't find anything comparable on Amazon to what I got form Best Buy-----plus the 18 month interest no pay which I need right now------------and it was a no brainer. Free delivery and hook up as well..........the best thing about that is they take the old unit and I don't have to worry about getting rid of it.

    • Oh, I wouldn't expect anyone to buy a big appliance like that from Amazon! But I appreciate the thought.

Are you sure your deal is no interest AND no payments? Kinda thought most credit card companies have discontinued the no payments part of those promos due to the changed credit laws. Maybe I misunderstood though.

      • Best Buy has some surprisingly competitive prices. I got my fiancee her samsung laptop from there for super cheap. Didn't used to be that way, but they have had to adjust to the internet world.

DO NOT buy your cords and cables from them though. Amazon is WAY cheaper with that stuff. Like not just half priced, but something like 5 times cheaper, for things like HDMI cords and the like.

Chargers, laptop batteries etc etc. You can find some great prices at Amazon for that kind of shit. Hell, I even ordered a side mirror and a tail light for my cars (yes, two different cars. My wife said it was my fault for parking behind her...)

-----------------Yep. Read it before hand. Thanks for the heads up though Deb. I'm pretty frugal. That was a Huge selling reason at this stage.

Heh. Makes me think about how much I love my Hyundai Sonata. A couple months ago I ran into the back of someone. I was stopped at a yield sign and as they were passing by (without a signal on), I started to roll forward to tuck in behind. But they were turning right into the bank's entrance which was adjacent to where I was stopped. As I turn my head all I see is car and braked but slid ever so slightly into them. Did $600 damage to their bumper (Cadillac) and barely a dimple in mine.

A couple weeks later I backed into a pole. I'd been all twitchy ever since running into the back of someone. Checked the bumper and only a teeny tiny itty bitty scratch. Great bumpers!

I don't think your Hyundai would have come out unscathed in my incident.

My wife backed out of the drive way without bothering to look behind her. The back tail light of the Sienna hit the drivers mirror on the the Camry. Ripped off the mirror and cracked the tail light.

I knew there was a problem when she walked into the house an said "Don't be mad" Ha!

Ordered the tailight lense and the mirror using the Amazon link and fixed both for under 100 bucks.

I hardly use DVD drives anymore. DL everything as a digital file or streamed.
Its not the size its the feel and the weight. If its ridiculously small and weighs little its one thing. But i guess I would rather use a little more metal in their phones so it feels stronger even if its probably overkill.

The gist fo the article was that unlimited plans would soon become a thing of the past.

Sprint has no plans to tier data plans on WiMAX, as their 4G network has enough spectrum to handle all of their customers as well as all of Verizon's customers.

It would also be unwise for T-Mobile to tier data plans. I believe that the CDMA iphone will be the fall of AT&T.

                        • Murphy - it may or may not. iphone sales have driven the deathstar's profit margin but it may end up a boon for customers. AT&T will have a financial incentive to compete now that there is valid competition.

It may not kill AT&T, but I don't see them keeping that #2 spot for long. So you're right about them needing to be more aggressive on pricing. Surveys are showing that roughly 26% of iphone users plan to switch to VZW after the release. AT&Ts churn rate is already 15% (tied for the highest in the industry with T-mobile) so a VZW iphone is REALLY going to hurt.

On the other hand, VZW has been bashing the iphone with their "Droid Does" campaign. That could certainly come back to bite them in the ass.

Problem with the Deathstar is that they don't care about their customers. I do believe they WILL end up in trouble if the iphone lands on Sprint and tmobile, which looks very possible as the agreement with Verizon was non-exclusive.

                              • I have ATT for my internet access... its good and cheap and reliable. Though paying the bill online is an incredibly difficult thing to navigate (it's just not expecting internet only people and wants you to pay through the cable service system or using your ATT phone number... both items I don't have). Naturally they do everything they can to hide the phone number to talk to a real person... and when you do make it to that level's final boss its a guy in india who doesn't understand the issue no matter what you say.

I get the deathstar reference there...does kinda feel like using the force to hit a tiny hole with a proton torpedo or what ever the hell star wars called those little red sparkle things.
