Tether Berry customers have been threatened heavily by Verizon.
sprint and at&t also frown upon tethering. wireless companies would rather you pay $60/month for mobile broadband, which would be fine if they didn't limit your usage. 5 GB per month unless you get a work discount that qualifies for unlimited MBB.
as for tether berry...I installed it on my curve and only got something similar to dial up speed, but I imagine if I used a tour it would have been faster. a co-worker of mine had a htc touch pro with an app that turned the phone into a wifi hotspot and was never caught."Low on the totem, till he showed 'em defiance, giant scrotum"

I get that there are things that you can't do with a factory standard iPhone that maybe you should be able to do, but what is it that people need to do that they can't with a standard iPhone?
If I can't set the clock on my VCR, then does it matter whether or not my VCR can do scheduled recordings?
I had a user at my current job just last week not understand that having 1.5 GB of available space on her laptop was killing her performance. But she wanted to be able to run 10 programs like everyone else.
To me its about consumer rights. I can't recommend the most restrictive product to users. I understand that our rights as consumers are going away and I can't tell others to purchase the devices that take them away the fastest. Its why I was an early adopter of HD-DVD.

just t-mobile because, like at&t, it's a GSM network...sprint and verizon are CDMA"Low on the totem, till he showed 'em defiance, giant scrotum"

I mentioned in the past I had computer difficulties. Well, I got the thing back limping along but made plans to buy a new computer sometime in the near future probably closer to spring. The thing was 5 years old anyway.
My sister was here at Thanksgiving and she's real smart with computer hardware and configured my last computer for me. So she decides to configure a new one for me and it happened to be black Friday and she found a killer deal at Dell of 40% off. So I got an $800 desktop for $500.
I'm not sure exactly what I got other than a Dell with Windows 7 and a 20 inch monitor but holy cow! It is lightning fast. I had no idea what I've been missing."And I'm a million different people from one day to the next..."

Drew, I had one when I loaded a game from Facebook (I know, I know...) I googled remove whatever the add was and found out how to get rid of it. It was easy enough that I could do it, so it was really easy...I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on
