I can run once installed without hacks as many programs as I have system memory for and I am allowed to like any windows machine find that limitation on my own. I have running right now Trapster, Gtalk, Viigo (a very nice RSS aggregator that has several other features), and while having all of those up earlier today I brought up RDM+ (which is a remote desktop program that is connected desktop and lets me transfer files back and forth and even kill processes on my desktop).
This affects more then the Iphone but I can also through our proxy and through our firewall wireless link my work email to my phone since we don't have a forward facing exchange mailbox and without some overly complicated and restricted VPN setup. Though I don't blame anyone for this but I congratulate Blackberry for coming up with an interesting solution that really only cuts into people purchasing their Enterprise connection. But like before this is an out of the box solution, the software came with the phone. Screw bluetooth syncing, screw wired syncing, instant work email anywhere at no cost to our company.

so complete multitasking is about the only real advantage you can tout? iPhone 3.0 has full MS Exchange support... and supports Cisco VPN for remote connectivity. I have full remote access as well to remote control computers .. LogMeIn Ignition has worked well. Full access to the iPhone is possible via SSHGot Kneecaps?

But If I want to run an X-rated program on my phone out of the box I can.

Who doesn't want to to install a program developed for some cool functionality without being forced to go through Apple and have them judge you for your choices. The actions they pulled with the baby shaker killed any chance of me ever getting an Iphone even if I didn't have to move to AT&T. It was in poor taste but it shouldn't have been up to them to decide limitations on peoples humor levels.

And as far as the App Store goes, doesn't any store have the right to chose what they carry?"This is an empty signature. Because apparently carrying a quote from anyone in this space means you are obsessed with that person. "

so like I said..there isn't any feature except more multitasking that your phone offers?
My phone isn't the best one. Its one that fits my needs. My recommendation against the Iphone has little to do with my phone. It has to do with an wide berth of more consumer friendly phones. The choices are so abundant I don't see where the Iphone fits in it in a consumer sense. Kudos to Apple for coming up with a user friendly touch phone before everyone else. If not for that I would like to think that the public at large would have a better understanding of their restrictions.

And for the record, I am not trying to talk you into buying one or saying the iphone is better than yours, merely pointing out that the restrictions you refer to really aren't reality. Concerning the voiding of warranty/TOS - if my phone has a problem - I can flash back to stock firmware and Apple won't know the difference.Got Kneecaps?

You think you'll be able to flash it back to factory condition when it won't even boot up?
Coop, I have a Touch and love it, but a rational person who didn't want to devote their time to the thing shouldn't buy an iPhone just to jailbreak it or whatever you want to call it. It's too much effort and work for something other phones can do without it.#birdsarentreal

Deb - if it won't boot then it's probably a hardware failure and Apple won't really know it was hacked will they? I have jailbroken two ipod touches and three iphones and have yet to brick one. Granted it takes a little time to do some googling for due diligence to make sure you're doing it right...
You'd be surprised how easy it is to unlock the device these days. It's a one click executable, reboot, and then installation of an app from cydia. Takes about 5 minutes.
But I get your point regardless.Got Kneecaps?
