  • When I saw Darnold’s face twist, I figured it was a facemask. Then I saw him gesture for it. But when the refs didn’t throw the Flag I figured I must have seen something else. But on replay it was clear. Vikings got screwed. I’m glad the Vikings lost but I’ve been kind of rooting for Darnold. I’m glad to see him do well after getting screwed by the Jets.

When the refs didn't call the penalty I thought the refs forgot the Lions weren't playing.
      GO LIONS "24" !!

      • Yeah that really sucks for the game to end like that.

Oh wait, no it doesn’t because fuuuuuuuck the fucking Vikings!

        Thanks for the assist, Stafford.

        • Things even out I guess. Remember the Devon Taylor facemask phantom call on the lions so rodgers and the packers extended the game ?
Yep, the longest hail mary in NFL history still angers me to this very day . (and don't bring up the Tucker 66 yard FG either!)

LOL. I thought about the exact same thing. In order for things to even out that call would have to have been in favor of the Lions,

I watched a lot more UFL than I care to admit, but their replay system is much better. Why can't they go to that?
What is the UFL replay model? Are they allowed to just sky judge anything and call down for obvious missed penalties? I mean that play was a pretty easy one to see but what if there was offensive holding that wasn’t called, should they identify that as well?

              • It's a non-reviewable call. You can't use replay of sky judge to review whether or not a penalty should be called. Even in this instance, a scoring play (a safety).
One of those stupid rules. Almost like Minnesota getting an extra play last week despite making a penalty on a running clock

                • Yeah, that’s why we are discussing other replay models.

                  • Here’s the relevant section of the UFL rule - based on this they have discretion over “officiating rulings” in the last 5 minutes. So does that mean non-calls too? Seems weird that they wouldn’t explicitly state that like they did in the player safety section.

Any call or non-call related to player safety is also subject to review at any point during the game, as well as any officiating ruling in the last five minutes of the fourth quarter or overtime that is obviously incorrect and will have a significant impact on the outcome of the game.

                    • Heard a rumor the Packers are close to signing Max Crosby. Hope it's full of doodoo.

I'm not sure on all the mechanics but each team has a super challenge for anything. That means a penalty or a ruling on a regular play. And Pereira is the sky judge who they deploy as he is on TV to do replay assist on everything. It's very fast and it takes away bad penalties

                        • We’re allowed to be hypocritical with this excuse. If the Cowboys win, they had the bye week to rest up.

Cowboys vs 49ers. Interesting game for us on Sunday. It’s very hedgy IMO. If the 49ers lose, that puts our 2023 greatest enemy in a huge hole for the season. If the Cowboys lose, we can enjoy a nice laugh because it’s the Cowboys. Mike McCarthy in big trouble. Plus the hangover theory continues with the 0-6 record.

Holding absolutely not. In this instance absolutely. It can be reviewed very easily without any stop in play.

Never seen it used. If it's real I would think someone would have used it by now. Tons and tons of instances where this could be used. I like it.

                            • I just want to go on record as saying,

                              Fuck the Vikings.

I have no sympathy for those fuckers what-so-ever.

It's about time some other teams get the "Lions treatment" from the NFL.

                              • Vikings offense had been moving backwards for the entire half, was out of timeouts and had to move the length of the field and convert a 2-point conversion in order to just TIE the game.

There are times when a bad call has a significant impact on who wins a game. This was not one of those times
