Don't look now, the Bears and Commanders are making the Hawks/Broncos game look like a shootout.

1st half was painful to watch. Solid finish to the game.

The best way to beat the bears is playing field position with this team. Fields just looks lost out there. Of course the field position game was the strategy for the Patriots and Campbell gave Zappe a lot of short fields.

Fields sure hasn’t improved on his weaknesses coming out of Ohio State. Short to intermediate accuracy.. Reading the field.. Processing information decisively..

The speed and athleticism is evident. Deep ball accuracy on one of the few deep ball shots the Bears took.

So they had this game on the local Fox affiliate last night. Is that something they are doing for all the Amazon games in the local markets?

I can't watch on Amazon. I"m too much of a channel flipper and the constant bombardment of Amazon content was too much for me.

It's just like if it was on ESPN or NFL network, it is available for the the local affiliates to air. In this case the NFL makes it available for the Washington and Chicago stations and there is a like a waiver order to who it is available to. Of course whoever it is first available to immediately snaps it up.

Will Tom Brady be fined for kicking Grady Jarrett?

The NFL has a unique, to say the least, procedure for disclosing the fines imposed on players for various infractions happening in games. The league doesn’t affirmatively disclose all fines. It will, however, provide specific information about specific situations that may or may not have resulted in fines, on request.

It typically results in a rash of tweets every Saturday afternoon with reports regarding fines, or non-fines, based on the prior week’s games. More often than not, the hand-in-glove relationship between the NFL and NFL Media means that one or more NFL Media employees will have that information.

This weekend, those tweets will surely relate to one specific foot-in-crotch moment.

Rob Maadi of the Associated Press reports that the league will review the controversial roughing-the-passer call against Falcons defensive tackle Grady Jarrett in an effort to determine whether Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady attempted to kick Jarrett, and whether Brady should be fined.

Spoiler alert: Brady did indeed try to kick Jarrett. Twice. It happened not only in a fourth-quarter moment that, thanks to the flag thrown on Jarrett, kept the Falcons from getting the ball back with a chance to win, but also during Tampa Bay’s opening drive of the game.

At 13:50 of the first quarter, Jarrett hits Brady and takes him to the ground after Brady threw the ball. On the ground, Brady clearly kicks at Jarrett. Brady didn’t connect, but he undoubtedly unleashed a #TommyTemperTantrum reaction toward the man who had dared to lay hands on the GOAT.

Brady did the same thing in the fourth quarter, and that’s the one for which he’s definitely under scrutiny. He should be under scrutiny for both.

It’s not the first time Brady has used his feet against an opponent. In January 2013, he was fined $10,000 for sticking a shoe into Ravens safety Ed Reed’s crotch during a slide. Last year, he went cleats up against the Giants, jamming his foot into the lower leg of defensive back Xavier McKinney. Brady wasn’t fined for that one.

Regardless of the accolades Brady has earned, it’s inappropriate and downright dirty to be kicking or spiking opponents. He doesn’t get criticized for it the way he should, because he’s Tom Brady. Regardless, he shouldn’t be immune from scrutiny.

And then stay tuned for the next episode of Let’s Go! to hear how he tries to laugh it all off by saying something like Jarrett ended up in far better shape than one of the many tablets Tom has destroyed in a moment of preschool petulance.

Officials missed key defensive pass interference foul in Commanders-Bears

With the Bears trailing by five points in the final minute of last night’s game and facing third and goal from the four, quarterback Justin Fields threw a potential game winner to receiver Dante Pettis.

Pettis was unable to make the catch. In large part because he was getting mugged by Commanders safety Darrick Forrest.

Forrest clearly made premature contact with Pettis. Specifically, Forrest pulled the receiver’s arm down as the ball was arriving.

Sometimes, officials bury the flags a little deeper in their pockets in crunch time. But that was interference, in any scenario, any quarter, any moment, any game.

Down Judge David Oliver, who was looking right at the play, disagreed. So did Amazon’s Kirk Herbstreit.

Said Herbstreit after the “bullshit” chant erupted at Soldier Field, “Of course, they want the pass interference call. To me, I saw Forrest’s head on the ball, two guys fighting for the football.”

They were indeed fighting for the football. But Forrest fought for it in a way that amounts to interference.

Whether Herbstreit saw it incorrectly or is tiptoeing on eggshells when it comes to calling out potential officiating mistakes, Herbstreit’s assessment was simply not correct.

After the game, Bears coach Matt Eberflus acknowledged that he believed it was pass interference. He also acknowledged that there ultimately wasn’t anything he could do about it.

“Of course,” Eberflus said. “It doesn’t matter, when they call it, there’s nothing you can do at that point. . . . You can argue it, if you want to.”

Arguing it won’t change the outcome, but there’s nothing wrong with pointing out the mistake. And if Herbstreit isn’t comfortable doing it, they can dial up rules analyst Terry McAulay, who could have quickly said something like, “The defender grabs and pulls the receiver’s arm down before the ball arrives, impeding his opportunity to make the catch. That’s textbook pass interference.”

That doesn’t mean the Bears would have scored a touchdown with first and goal from the one, but they should have had the opportunity to try.

I’d love to take this Washington win as evidence we can beat the bears when we play them but Fields is an athletic QB. He’ll do what Hurts did and run for a first down if the secondary manages to to its job.

Everything that's being said that he "only" does sounds just like Zappe.

It was clearly PI - well at least to anybody not name Kirk Hebstreit. Not sure the Bears would have been able to score from 1st and goal at the1 though. But I'm sure they will look great against the Lions.

Zappe didn't do all that much last week. The Lions gave him short fields and they kicked 5 field goals.

And the Pats ran for 170+ yards. Bears ran for 238 last night.
