    • Ford Field is smaller in seating capacity, but it is somewhat cavernous. The Silverdome's roof reflected all the sound down. Ford Field's asymmetrical design probably puts it as a disadvantage compared to the Dome.

      • I'd also like to put some blame on Millen. That Era broke a lot of people

        • If the Lions had a good team do you think it could be rocking or is it a design thing? Or both?

          Comment

          • I think it is a design thing. The fans blew the roof off of the Silverdome when the Lions had a decent team. Even when Ford Field is loud, it is not earth shattering loud. I doubt it will ever be thought of as one of the tougher places to play.

            • That’s a shame - the Silverdome seemed insane. The Jets players look genuinely scared by the noise.

              • There was a period that the NFL instituted a stupid-assed rule to penalize (delay of game) the home team if it was too loud for the visitors to get a play off. It was a stupid rule and didn't last very long. This video is from that time

I saw them play the Bengals in a pre-season game in 1970 or so.

Ford Field can carry a tremendous amount of noise too.

It just requires the Lions doing something worth making that much noise about.

The dome was loud as shit but they also had playoff teams from time to time.
