  • Again, it's not even as hard as people want to make it.

Come playoff time, the teams play a full 15 minutes. Keep doing that until there's a winner at the end of whatever OT period. It's really not that hard.

If ya don't like that for a typical regular season game, that's fine. Keep the current rules for the regular season.

That's probably the strongest argument for making a change to the OT rules at least in the playoffs. Its not so much that the current system is bad, totally unfair and needs reform. Its just that it would be so easy to improve it with literally no downside. It isn't rocket science or defining a catch.

The reason they have the rules now is to prevent an unnecessary repeat of the Chargers vs Dolphins in 1981. The game lasts so long that no matter who the winning team is has nothing left to offer for the next round. Sure, if the game is scoreless in OT it has to continue, but to prolong games after a score is already on the books - that is stupidity in my book. The FG part I can understand, it's way too easy to get a FG in todays game compared to 40 years ago.

        • The Charger-Dolphin playoff game has zero to do with the current rules.

          • In the playoffs they should play full quarters just like regulation.
            GO LIONS "24" !!

Then shouldn't your logic of, "they should have won in regulation" apply?

              • Okay, Who did this?

Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

                • I forgot how late these games start.

Plenty of time to booze up at least or clean the garage.

                      • KC can't be stopped on offense and Cincy can't give Burrow a clean pocket. Its going to be a long day for the Bengals.

                            • Yeah it's not looking good for my Bengals. They passed on Sewell to draft Chase. They were counting on Jonah Williams(1st rd pick from 2 years ago) to improve and for Rieff to be good at RT. Williams is still slightly above average at best and Rieff was playing good but got put on IR in December. The interior of the line is complete trash though so I'm not sure taking Sewell would have fixed things. They clearly need to address offensive line this offseason though.

                              • Sewell would have definitely been a beast on that line but Chase was the right pick. He's been insane this year and he'll only get better
